Madhoo: I am thinking of coming back in the industry, only as an actress

Actress Madhoo says that simple roles do not excite her and she wants to take up more of challenging roles like how veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor are doing these days.

Madhoo who’s 41 now is well known for her roles in film like ‘Roja’, ‘Diljale’ and ‘Phool Aur Kaante’, is quite excited about the current set of projects she’s doing.

She says, “My south films have started releasing. One film released last month and did 50 days run, so I believe it’s a hit. I have signed a couple of films and will start shooting soon. I have started acting again and I am enjoying that. Hopefully I will do a Hindi film soon, waiting for right movie to come to me,”

The actress who is eager to experiment with her roles wants to take up interesting roles and hopes filmmakers think of her in a different way today.

“I don’t want to say things and limit myself as an actress. I am at a juncture in my life where I can explore and do many different things. I would want producers and creative people to think of something really challenging and wonderful for me as an actress,” Madhoo said.

“When you are younger and playing a heroine, at that time things are pretty similar – like falling in love with the hero and getting married in the end. But now the movies and characterisation are different. I can do many more things than I did earlier in my life. It is like Chintuji (Rishi Kapoor), Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan), like they are doing fantastic roles now. I hope I can find something like that too,” she said.

Madhoowho was even seen in some Telugu films like ‘Anthaku Mundhu Aa Tharuvatha’, directed by National Award winner Mohan Krishna Indraganti. The film was released in August and even managed to get a good response. The actor even revealed that after doing a few more films, she’ll try her luck in direction.

“I do entertain that thought of directing a film. But as of now when I am thinking of coming back in the industry, it is only as an actress. May be once I settle down then definitely in future I would like to direct a film,” she said.
