Earlier we had reported that Sushant Singh Rajput would soon be seen essaying the role of Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. Later we also gave surfers a look at the poster of the film along with Sushant's look as Dhoni. Now we hear that mega production house Fox Star Studio have also come on board to co-produce the film.
Confirming the same Shikha Kapur, Senior Vice President Marketing at Fox says, "Yes, Fox will be co-producing the Dhoni biopic and we will also be distributing the film worldwide." Apart from this, another aspect of the deal we hear is that Fox will be responsible for branding and association deals for the movie.
MS Dhoni - The Untold Story is being directed by Neeraj Pandey, however details of the rest of the cast are being kept under wraps.

Actors cant even hum a song on screen without permission
According to the new copyright laws pertaining to artistic ownership, actors in a film can't hum even a line from an old popular song without paying for it.
A snatch of the popular 'Doli Sajake Rakhna Mehendi Lagake Rakhna' hummed by new actress Sayani Gupta in Shonali Bose's highly regarded Margarita With A Straw had to be hastily deleted from the film at the last minute.
According to sources, the snatch of the evergreen song from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge escaped the film's producers Viacom 18's eyes and ears until just hours before the release.
Says a source, "There was a last-minute panic at this oversight. Viacom18 got in touch with Aditya Chopra who informed them he had no objection to the song-snatch being used in Margarita With A Straw. However, the copyrights of the song belonged to Saregama-HMV who are known to quote staggering sums of money for permission to use even a line of their songs. Viacom decided to drop the DDLJ line at that last minute rather than go through the panic situation of negotiation."
Pahlaj Nihlani, the chairperson of the censorboard says the days of unchecked copyright infringement are gone. "Forget those lengthy antakshari games in films. If you want to use even one line of an old song you've to pay for it. If you've an antakshari in film you've to pay for every song that you use. It is against the law to use artistic property in any form without the owner's consent."

Atif Aslam gets special visa clearance for peace anthem
While other Pakistani artistes find it extremely difficult to get a visa clearance into India, Atif Aslam who has been recording most, if not all of his Bollywood numbers from outside India, flew in specially for a motivational youth number that the singer sang and danced to with Tiger Shroff.
Apparently, special permission was requested for the singer to be physically present for the video in Mumbai.
Choreographer Ahmed Khan who has shot the video says it was essential to get Atif over. "The whole video for a song called 'Aa Raha Hoon Main' was planned with Tiger and Atif. It's a motivational song for students and was shot on a real educational campus, Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods. The idea is to show students that learning and education need not be bookish and boring."
Ahmed admits Atif's presence in Mumbai was not easy. "We had to make a special request. But we're glad that Atif could make it."
One hears the singer had a tough time keeping pace with the nimble-footed Tiger. Laughs Ahmed, "Well, let's put it this way. If Atif is no match on Tiger as a dancer, Tiger is no match on Atif as a singer."

Amyra Dasturs voice dubbed in Mr X the lady protests
It is a given in films directed by Vikram Bhatt. Either the leading man or the heroine or both have their voices dubbed by other artistes. In Kasoor actress Divya Dutta dubbed for Lisa Ray while another artiste dubbed for Divya as she had role in the film. In Raaz Bipasha Basu voice was dubbed.
Many of the heroes in Bhatt's films have their voices dubbed by the director.
The situation is somewhat sticky tricky and icky in Mr. X the latest creation of the Bhatts.
While the leading man Emraan Hashmi speaks in his own voice, the leading lady Amyra's voice has been done way with.
Says a source, "Vikram loves to dub his artistes in voices other than their own. Vikram has dubbed for Dino Morea in Raaz, Aftab Shivdasani in Ankahee and so many others. It was impossible for Vikram to dub Emraan as he is a popular face and voice. But poor Amyra. She tried very hard to convince her director to let her own voice remain on screen. But Vikram got a dubbing artiste to do Amyra's voice."
Says Amyra, "I did own lines. But then they wanted a more mature voice. My character is supposed to be 26-27. I won't let this happen ever again."
Amyra who spoke her own lines in her debut film Issaq needn't be perturbed by the aural hurdle in her second film. So many actresses today who can't think or speak in Hindi get their voices dubbed by professional dubbing artistes. And when these firangi-tongued heroines speak in their own voices they sound so different.
We refer to Katrina Kaif and Amy Jackson. They sound like foreigners grappling with Indian tourism.

Dont fire at me from my familys shoulder- Shatrughan Sinha wont tolerate barbs about Sonakshi
Hell hath no fury like Shatru scorned. A recent report in a trade magazine taunting the irrepressible Shatrughan Sinha for opposing abusive language in films has got the actor fuming.
There have been insinuations that Shatrughan Sinha should keep mum as his daughter Sonakshi has sung allegedly vulgar songs like 'Gandi Baat' in Prabhudheva's R... Rajkumar.
Completely repudiating the charge as malicious and baseless Shatruji fires, "Please don't try to fire your guns from my family's shoulders. I know what my children are capable of. And Sonakshi would never do anything to lower the family's dignity."
Recalling his advice to his darling daughter when she became an actress Shatruji says, "My only contention was, never do anything to compromise our dignity. And I know she never will. Her mother has instilled the right values in her."
About the song 'Gandi Baat' Shatruji protests, "It may be titled 'Gandi Baat'. But there isn't word that's improper in the song. And really, I don't need to defend my children against desperate attempts to hit out at me."
The actor recently walked the ramp with his daughter for Shabana Azmi's Mijwan charity. Laughs Shatruji, "I did it for my dear friend Shabana. Only she could persuade me to do something like this."

Anurag Basus tele-film Chokher Bali to be converted into a feature film
Its television time once again for Anurag Basu. The director of path-breaking films like Gangster and Barfi is all set to return to his roots.
Anurag had started his career on television directing several episodes of Tara in 1993. He also directed a large number of episodes of Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Tthi before branching out into filmmaking.
But now Anurag has gone back to television with a brand new adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's Chokher Bali.
Designed for television, the film has turned out so well that it's now being considered for the large screen
Says the film's leading lady, Radhika Apte, "It's been made for the Epic channel. When Anurag Basu offered me the role I just wanted to do it. I didn't care which medium it was for. Anurag is a director for whom I'd do two shots in a short-film. And what a mind blowing script. But now that the film is complete we all feel it should show in the movie theatres. It is exquisite."
Moves are afoot to convert the telefilm into a feature film.
Chokher Bali may well be Anurag Basu's next theatrical release ahead of the long-delayed Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos.
There have been several interpretations of Chokher Bali on screen, the last being the late Rituparno Ghosh's large-screen adaptation featuring Aishwarya Rai.

Now a sequel to Ek Paheli Leela
With Ek Paheli Leela showing encouraging collections at the box-office, the film's team is all set to encore the success.
Yes, the team has already started work on the sequel which we believe will be far bigger in scale than the first film.
Says the film's co-producer Ahmed Khan, "We already had an idea for a sequel, even while we were shooting Ek Paheli Leela. We wanted to see how the first film is received. Ek Paheli Leela has proved profitable for all of us. We are very happy."
Made at a budget of Rs. 12 crores, Ek Paheli Leela has already raked in Rs 18 crores.
Apparently, Sunny Leone who left for Los Angeles, with her husband Daniel Weber on Monday post the film's release, is keen to build a 'Leela' franchise.
Says Ahmed, "Both my friend and partner Bhushan Kumar and I were very happy to work with Sunny. She is a thorough professional and her husband is the least interfering guy I've seen in an actress' life. It'd be a pleasure to work with Sunny again."

When Sunny Leone refused to shoot love-making scene with Mohit Ahlawat in Ek Paheli Leela
The behind-the-scenes drama during the making of Bobby Khan's Ek Paheli Leela seems fodder for another screenplay altogether. It seems Sunny Leone, who is otherwise known to be a peaceful amiable soul, couldn't get along with one of her co-stars Mohit Ahlawat at all. As luck would have it, Leone and Ahlawat had a lot of scenes together, as they play husband and wife. They also had to shoot an intense love-making sequence.
Says a source from the film, "They were constantly at loggerheads. Mohit has always been known to be hotheaded. While others on the sets pampered Sunny, Mohit largely ignored her. This didn't go down well with Sunny and things came to a head between the two. By the time they came down to shooting the love-making scene, they were completely hostile with one another."
The source says Sunny Leone wouldn't do the love-making scene. Mohit too refused.
"Director Bobby Khan was at his wit's end. It was at this point that Sunny's husband, who was on the sets throughout and also has a cameo role in the film as a pilot, suggested that he act as a body double for Mohit Ahlawat. The love-making was shot with Sunny and with her husband Daniel Weber posing as Mohit's character."
Reacting to a story in a leading paper that his love-making scene with Sunny Leone in Ek Paheli Leela was shot with a body double, actor Rajniesh Duggal who plays Sunny's lover quipped, "No thanks, no body-doubles for me. I can do all my love-making myself. That was me with Sunny. In fact if you look at the picture that they have published to show that my love-making scene was shot with a body-double, you can clearly see that's me and not a body double."

The Avengers gets UA Ass deleted
After the box office furor created by Furious 7, all eyes are set on the next American super-spectacle franchise.
And the good news is that the new part of the Avengers series entitled Avengers Age Of Ultron has been passed with a 'UA' certificate with just one audio cut.
Avengers Age Of Ultron is being released by its Indian producers Disney-UTV on April 24, a week before it opens in the US.
Says a source from the censor board, "The film has been certified 'UA'. We have deleted nothing except one abusive word ... 'ass'...from the soundtrack. It in no way has any relevance to the storytelling. Since the film will be seen by children, why fill the soundtrack with unnecessary abuse?"

Mr X is Emraan Hashmis non-adult film
Vikram Bhatt's Mr. X which opens next Friday could well be Emraan Hashmi's first non-Adult film in a very long time.
The film apparently has no kisses, not even a passing peck.
Vouching for this, the film's very pretty leading Amyra Dastur says, "The minute I met the director Vikram Bhatt, he told me it was a U/A film so I had no issues doing any scenes as long as it was within that UA boundary. I did refuse to wear a bikini, though."
Considering the fact that the Bhatts had this time set out to consciously create a non-Adults product, the censor board's chairperson Pahlaj Nihlani wonders what all the fuss about the film being delayed at the censors .
Says Nihalani, "Mr X is in fact the first film of the Bhatts that has not got into trouble at all. They came to us with the intention of getting a 'UA' certificate and that's what they got. I suppose it is fashionable to blame the CBFC for every ailment that afflicts a film on release. We do not delay films. In fact we've cleared the latest film in the Avengers series two weeks before release. They submitted their film for certification well in advance. It's very simple. You'll get your censor certificate as early or late as you apply for it."

Chaitanya Tamhanes National Award winner Court is the next Lunchbox
Chaitanya Tamhane's Marathi-Hindi-Gujarati-English language debut film Court which has recently won the National award for best film is well on the way to being the most feted Indian film abroad.
Chaitanya, who comes from a family of non-cineastes, has just returned from the New York from the 44th Annual New Directors/New Films festival where Court was screened to rave reviews.
Jet lagged and still incredulous about the success his debut film has received globally, in spite of having taken it to 30 international film festivals so far, Chaitanya says, "The New York experience was unique because this is a festival for the first and second films of directors. Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan's debut films were shown here. It's still hard for me to believe that my film has been so warmly received the world over."
While making a film on the vagaries of the Indian legal system, Chaitanya didn't think he was making a social comment. "I wanted to tell the story that I wanted to tell. It wasn't as if I had set out to tell make a social comment. I just got interested in and started researching on it."
Chaitanya went through hundreds of cases. "I began visiting the sessions courts and discovered that the way the legal system and the courtroom proceedings have been shown in our films is completely contrary to reality."
As Chaitanya met individuals trapped in legal battles for years, there emerged a pattern of tragic sometimes tragic-comic cases and lawsuits that didn't quite make sense.
Chaitanya was hooked. He had to tell the story of the pitfalls of the legal system. But there was no money.
It was Chaitanya's childhood friend Vivek Gombar who agreed to fund Chaitanya's dream.
"If it wasn't for Vivek's support, Court wouldn't have happened. We made the film on our own without the support of any corporate house. When we were shooting we thought of only how to complete the film. Little did we know that the film would make such an impact," chuckles the young director who at age 19 made a short film on plagiarism in Indian cinema.
You won't find anything remotely unoriginal in Chaitanya's work. Which is why he is a little disturbed when Court is referred to as "another Lunchbox."
Thoughtfully Chaitanya says, "I am not too sure whether my film would eventually have the same global impact as The Lunchbox. But I can say this with certainty, global audiences have got the point. At all the 30 international film festivals that the film has gone to, not once did we have to explain our cultural references to Western audiences."
