Karan Johar’s film, Student Of The Year, featuring Alia, Varun and Siddharth in the lead roles, has completed one year of it’s release on 19th Oct, and KJO is swelling with pride, thanks to his 3 students who also debuted in Bollywood with this romantic-comedy.
“SOTY completes a year today! I am really proud of my three students and the entire cast and crew of this young, fun and special film of my career,” Karan posted on Twitter Saturday.
The story talks about the lives of three college students, who are best friends, yet forget their friendship when asked to compete for the prestigious title of ‘Student of the Year’.
Thanking Karan, Alia tweeted: “SOTY completes one year and so do I.. one year since I’ve been in the industry! Thank you Karan Johar for giving us the perfect break.”
It was indeed a perfect break for the three newcomers who have now, post SOTY, pocketed plum roles in various Bollywood films.
While Alia will be seen in Imitiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’ and Abhishek Verman’s ’2 States’, Varun is presently woking on his dad’s film ‘Main Tera Hero’ and Siddharth has just finished shooting ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’. He will also be seen in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘The Villain’.
