Actor Kalki Koechlin and director Anurag Kashyap have filed for legal separation after a year of living apart. They got married in a simple ceremony in 2011, and just after four years, the hot-shot couple has decided to part ways. Apparently, they want a clean break-up so that both can move on in their personal lives – without hard feelings for each other. The couple, who have just filed for a divorce, remain friends.
In 2013, rumours of Anurag’s affair with Huma Quereshi sparked a rift between the couple. At the time, Kalki came to Huma’s rescue, defending her for not being the ‘reason’ for her break-up with Anurag. However, the couple started living separately for over a year after the alleged rumours.
It seems Kalki and Anurag are now ready to put their marriage behind them to give their friendship the best chance they can. There is no point living in a bad marriage and the couple feels it’s better to separate and be friends than let things take an ugly turn. Unlike messy celebrity divorces such as Karishma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor’s, Kalki and Anurag want a peaceful divorce.
This will be Anurag’s second divorce. He was earlier married to film editor Aarti Bajaj with whom he has a daughter.
While their personal lives have taken a hard knock, professionally things are looking up – on one hand Kalki has Margarita With A Straw coming up in which her performance is being raved about, on the other hand, Anurag is looking forward to his career’s biggest film, Bombay Velvet.
