Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case: The actor did not have alcohol permit during accident

The Kick actor’s hit-and-run case doesn’t seem to have an end

The prosecution on Tuesday produced new documents before the special court which is conducting trial in the actor Salman Khan’s alleged hit-and-run case. The documents mentioned that the actor did not possess alcohol permit when his vehicle allegedly met with an accident in 2002.

The prosecution produced four letters from four different excise offices. All of them mentioned that the actor did not possess permit to consume alcohol. The prosecution also produced letters from two RTO center which specified that the actor did not have a licence on the day the incident took place.

Special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat, while speaking to DNA, confirmed the development and said that the court has taken the cognizance of the letters submitted by the prosecution. He, however, claimed that the evidential value of the application will be decided at the time of the final arguments in the case.

Meanwhile, the defence advocate has sought permission from the court to allow him to re-examine investigating officer Rajendra Kadam in order to clarify a few points in connection with the statement given by the deceased witness, Ravindra Patil. However, it was opposed by the prosecution.

Gharat, while speaking to DNA, said, “The defence has claimed that they want to re-examine the witness in connection with certain points raised in the statement given by Patil. However, fact is that the defence had already cross examined Kadam and that the present plea would just reflect to fill the lacuna of the defence. The court, however, will decide on this issue on the next date.”

The defence also initiated cross examination of another investigating officer, Kishan Shenghal. However, due to lack of time, the examination has been adjourned to March 24.

The hit-and-run case

According to the prosecution, the case dates back to September 2002, when Salman Khan had allegedly rammed his Toyota Land Cruiser on the people who were sleeping on a pavement next to a bakery in suburban Bandra. The incident killed one and injured four others.
