Cops nab suspect slandering Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate

Aamir Khan had lodged a complaint regarding maligning statements on social networking sites regarding his talk show; it seems the cops have napped a suspect regarding the case

Recently, a team of cops nabbed a 32-year-old man from Udaipur, who was involved in slandering Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate. Earlier cops nabbed another man from Karnatak who was involved in a similar smear campaign. Hearing this story the alleged suspect from Udaipur changed his address, but the police official caught him by posing as his friends.

This person had apparently posted disparaging information about all the funds that were gathered through smses on a websitespealingtree.com “On reaching suspect’s Udaipur address, we learnt that he had sold his house for Rs 1.25 crore. We made inquiries and found that his grandfather had just passed away. Since we didn’t have his new address, we told one of his old neighbours that we were his friends and wanted to attend the condolence meeting. The locals helped us gain entry to his house,” said an officer from the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) who was also a part of the team that apprehended the suspect.

Apparently, Aamir Khan had caught up with Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sadanand Date sometime in March to brief him about the messages on social networking sites that were damaging the reputation of the show and their intentions. Apparently, there’s not just one but multiple smear campaigns online that are trying to malign Satyamev Jayate .

“In first instance, a malicious blog was written, giving negative publicity to the show. In that case, we traced the suspect Ajit Vadakayil, 58, to Karnataka. Vadakayil, a retired merchant navy captain, admitted to have written the alleged post in 2010-11. He also claimed that he had done some research on the issue before posting it on social media. However, he later realised that his research was wrong and regretted his action. Vadakayil was arrested in April and a charge sheet was filed against him,” the officer added.
