Although Holiday is a story of a soldier and his duty towards the country, it breaks all stereotypes of terrorism and comes in as a breath of fresh air.
Here is A.R. Murugadoss’ Holiday movie review:
Going by the tagline A soldier is never off duty, we have the dashing hero Captain Virat Bakshi (Akshay Kumar) enjoying his holiday back home, trying to find his match and trying to woo Sahiba (Sonakshi Sinha). The two shares some cute and comical moments and sing and dance here there everywhere. Virat along with his friend (played by Sumeet Raghavan) enjoy their time in Mumbai until they realize there is a terrorist (Freddy Daruwala) somewhere close by.
Action begins, our soldier is seen kicking, punching, delivering weird dialogues, breaking heads etc and defeating the dushman. Unlike most films, here we have the terrorists holding fancy gadgets and looking smart, yeah they do!
Coming to the screenplay, we’d give it a thumbs up. A.R Murgadoss does a fine job of engaging his audience. His previous film Ghajini also managed to receive a positive review for never losing track and being an engaging thriller. Holiday too doesn’t disappoint in terms of that.
Akshay Kumar is good as an action hero. He always was. Sumeet Raghavan gets more screen space than darling Sonakshi who is there just to dance and sing and laugh and fill the empty spaces. We also have Govinda in a short appearance and doing a good job. A special mention to the villain of the film Freddy Daruwala who steals your heart with his brilliant performance.
In the end Holiday is worth watching for its freshness and for some good action moves. It is a pretty long film, close to three hours.
