When Mallika Sherawat got really emotional and outspoken about how women are not treated well in India in a recent media interview (something that is still fresh in our memories), she did not just move the whole of the nation, she also got some attention from the famed Oxford university staff who wanted her to address the issue and participate in a debate ‘This House Believes Gender Exists to Oppress’ by Oxford Union, UK!
And here’s what a spokesperson from inside the university had to say about that, “We feel that as a figure who recently was very outspoken about the image of women and women’s rights in a country like India, Mallika would lend an interesting angle to the debate.”
Naturally Mallika Sherawat was over the clouds with this invite and spoke to a tabloid where she said, “Yes, I have accepted the invitation. The date is set on February 27. A lot of preparation is required. It’s a great honour. I come from a small town, so it means a lot to be invited to speak at such a historic venue. I can use the platform to highlight issues like drop in the conviction rate in rape cases across the country.” We sure wish that she wins the debate…
