The stand-up comic finally announces his Bollywood debut
As we had reported earlier, Kapil Sharma is ready for his Bollywood debut and that has been approached by Yash Raj Films for a new project to be launched under the Y Films banner. The same banner that saw the Bade Achche Lagtey Hai actor Ram Kapoor in Saqib Saleem starrer, Mere Dad Ki Maruti. Now we hear that the popular comedian has took up this lucrative offer and has officially been signed for a three-film contract.
“Kapil is one of the biggest names on television right now. He debuts in a film titled Bank-Chor. Kapil has also been signed on to the company’s talent management wing that handles celebrity endorsements and films,” a source close to the production house was quoted by a leading daily.
So will Bank- Chor will be a complete comic caper, you ask? Well, not completely. Kapil‘s debut film will have a tadka of both thrill and comedy, it seems. And it’s quite obvious that the funny man is quite excited about his Bollywood debut. “It’s a privilege and a dream to be part of this family and have my launch with them. The script is the most exciting part, since it’s the kind of role that’s very different from the typical comedian role. I’ve always loved and watched thrillers and this is a thriller comedy, so that’s even better,” said Mr Sharma.
For those of you who don’t know, the host of Comedy Nights with Kapil used to serious theatre 12 years back before he ventured into comedy. And now he is quite elated to return to acting after 12 years.
