Court lifts stay on Ram-Leela

Readers may be aware that a stay had been imposed upon the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram-Leela but the recent development is that it has now been lifted and the film will be releasing on November 15 as planned.

Earlier, the movie Ram-Leela faced legal crisis owing to its bold content. Certain Hindu community workers claimed that the sex, vulgarity and violence portrayed in a film with a mythological title like 'Ram Leela' may hurt the sentiments of many. Hence, six petitioners along with the Prabhu Samaj Dharmik Ram Leela Committee filed a suit against the filmmakers for using the title of the folklore 'Ram Leela' for the film. However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali too had responded to this case by releasing a letter stating that the film does not resemble any mythological folklore but is an Indian adaptation of the Shakespearean romance Romeo and Juliet.

And recently, the Delhi court decided to vacate the stay on the film and has allowed Bhansali to release it worldwide as per the scheduled date.
