Mukesh Bhatt – High amount corruption persists in India

Bollywood producer and director, Mukesh Bhatt thinkgs that the sole reason filmmakers are opting for a destination abroad to shoot film is because of high amount of red tapism and corruption that persists in India.

“Shooting abroad becomes more economical than in India; reason being too many permissions and hassles. You need 76 various kinds of permissions, right from police, RTO, customs etc. I find it obnoxious,” Bhatt said.

Mukesh Bhatt further added that the corruption roots run deep in India and that filmmakers have to shell out huge amount of money to get their work done, this is not the case in foreign countries.

“We end up giving money over and under the table whereas when we shoot abroad we get a red carpet welcome, it (shooting) turns out to be cheap,” he said.

Bhatt also recalls that Yash Chopra was the first ever filmmaker to capture the beautiful scenery in camera and bring it on the celluloid, which eventually became the favourite destination for Indians, specially for the ones who are going for a honeymoon.

“I hope things will change soon so that filmmakers can capture the beauty of India on screen,” the producer added.
