Happy New Year star Sonu Sood turns 42 today. The engineer-turn-actor has a strong presence in Tollywood and Kollywood and is on his way to make a similar impact in Bollywood. (Almost there, we-say). Though known for his chiseled physique Sonu is a versatile actor, having essayed different roles on screen – from hero and villain to comic foil. He’s definitely a talent to watch out for. Here are eight times when he proved his mettle.
The Bhaiyya From UP
Topping it all, it has to be Cheddi Singh from Dabangg. That physique along with the UP accent was bang on.
Royal And Brave Brother
Playing Jodhaa’s (Aishwarya Rai) brother in Jodhaa-Akbar who is fighting for his land and kingdom wasn’t easy. Reason? He had Hrithik Roshan – no less – to contend with.
No Cop Out
In Buddah Hoga Tera Baap, he played Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan’s son – a cop who swears to eliminate crime from his city. (We also loved the madly-in-love side of Sonu).
The Perfect Romeo
Here, he wasn’t fighting in the battles or dying in the process. Sonu was at his charming best in Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi. Who would have thought that this man has such a soft and romantic side to him?
Mute Yet Funny
The king in Singh Is King was a funny one. Using every single muscle on his face, Sonu conveyed all expressions and feelings quite well.
R Rajkumar
A villain that makes you smile and blush. How is that even possible? Well ask, Shivraj from R..Rajkumar.
Happy New Year
Playing Jag in Happy New Year, where he lost his cool every time anyone said anything about his mother, was super easy for Sonu. All he had to do was show off his muscles – and be funny. All of which comes naturally to our birthday boy.
AB’s Bro
A special mention for his performance in Yuva as Abhishek Bachchan’s brother. After all, this was the beginning.
