Yeh Hai Mohabbatein: Is Shagun really that greedy and insensitive?

She says some of the most outrageous things that make us want to slap her

In the recent episodes of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein , Shagun (Anita Hassanandani) emotionally blackmails Ruhi (Ruhanika Dhawan) to work as a model so that she can keep up a her expensive lifestyle. The little kid who believes that Ashok (Sangram Singh) will fire her father Raman (Karan Patel) if she doesn’t do the commercials he has roped her in, gives in to her mother’s blackmails and sacrifices her education to earn money.

We were shocked when Shagun tells her teacher that Ruhi will be bunking school again to shoot some ads. But when the teacher protests Shagun’s irresponsibility towards Ruhi’s studies, she actually tells the teacher that money is more important than exams and that there is nothing wrong with her daughter earning for her mother. We thought mothers are supposed to take care of their kids, then why is Shagun behaving so insensitive towards her own child. Frankly it’s not shocking to see Shagun do this – if she can manipulate her son Aditya to almost kill himself for her revenge, this is really nothing, right?

Ruhi’s education will definitely take a back seat if she continues to work for her mother’s luxurious lifestyle. We wonder when Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi) will get off the wheel chair and really start doing her job as Ruhi’s mother. If the little girl doesn’t come back to Ishita, Shagun will ruin her life and future for her greed.

It astonishes us that the makers of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein are showcasing this track so lightly. Child labour is a crime, especially when all the benefits of the child’s hard earned money is going into supporting the mother’s frivolous expenditures. We hear that Anju Mahendroo, who has already entered the show, will make sure that Ishita is reunited with Ruhi; now that is something we are eagerly waiting to see. It’s about time that Shagun starts doing something for herself instead of depending on the world to take care of her.
