Seems like Haryana and NCR is quickly becoming the hotbed of plot ideas for filmmakers…
Randeep Hooda whose first look for the film Do Lafzon Ki Kahani was recently revealed, will soon be doing a film with Youngistaan director Syed Ahmed Afzal. The film will be titled Yeh Laal Rang. Sources suggest that the film is about the rampant problem of blood bank theft in Haryana and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR)
This is not the first time Randeep will play a Haryanvi in a film. His last critically acclaimed performance was in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway where he played Mahabir Bhati, a Gujjar kidnapper. In Yeh Laal Rang, Randeep will play a Jat.
Talking about the complex plot of the film which hasn’t been explored by Bollywood yet, director Syed Ahmad Afzal said, “The film deals with a serious issue plaguing the region but it will be treated with a lot of dark humour. I have co-written the script with Pankaj Matta. We should go on floors by July.”
A movie on blood bank thefts is rather unusual but with films like Badlapur and NH10, offbeat is becoming the new commercial in Bollywood. About his attempt to look at Haryana’s problem, Afzal says,”We hope to bring fresh insight into the crime of stealing blood and supplying it to places around Haryana, like Delhi-NCR. Randeep will be playing a Jat for the first time.”
Randeep, who has already shown his acting chops says, “Realistic cinema impresses me more than commercial cinema,” and that is why he was so taken by the script of Yeh Laal Rang.
We are intrigued to see how this film turns out to be. What about you?
