The Indian Cricketer’s new video which champions the cause of women’s quality is WAY better than Deepika Padukone’s Vogue Empower video. Here is why I think so…
So Anushka Sharma’s boyfriend Virat Kohli along with other players from the Indian cricket team decided to feature in a powerful women empowerment video which easily beats Deepika Padukone’s Vogue Empower video titled My Choice. In Virat’s video which is titled Respect to Protect, the cricketer along with other players like Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu and commentator Ravi Shastri promise to respect and protect the rights of women around them. In the video Anushka’s boyfriend and player Virat Kohli starts off by saying, “Protecting a woman means respecting her.” The players go on to promise that they will strive to respect women by protecting their social, economical, sexual and educational rights.
Why I think this women empowerment video is better than Deepika’s My Choice video is because it is more extensive and hits home better because it has men who are talking about what they think of women’s rights in a society. The Respect to Protect video is also better because it doesn’t sound superficial, it may not have a high production value but the message is conveys is far more powerful than the Vogue Empower video. It doesn’t sound petulant, it clearly calls for respecting a woman’s social, sexual, economical choices and most of all her independence.
