For Bombay Velvet, Anushka Sharma has taken on a very glamorous avatar, complete with gorgeous gowns and glittery jewellery. She plays a jazz singer and her look is to die for. She is having some trouble taking care of the weight though. Not her weight, silly, she’s still as petite as ever. The buzz is that one of the gowns that the NH10 star wore for the film weighs an astonishing 35 kilos and gave her quite some trouble.
While the B-Town hunks are beefing up for their upcoming films (Aamir Khan for Dangal, Ranbir Kapoor for a Sanjat Dutt biopic and Farhan Akhtar for Wazir, to name a few), the ladies are adding kilos to their frames in a different way – by wearing heavy costumes that reportedly make them very uncomfortable. Such commitment to work!
Anushka is not the only one showing such commitment though. Deepika Padukone’s 12-kg armour, which she will be seen sporting in Bajirao Mastani, made headlines sometime back, and so did Sunny Leone’s all golden and glittery, 12-kg lehenga that she wore in Ek Paheli – Leela.
Since this was Anushka’s first-time wearing such a heavy costume, she was reportedly quite troubled. Nonetheless, being the professional that she is, the 26-year-old didn’t complain and actually carried the gown gracefully. We’re sure Deepika was more at ease because she is used to wearing heavy dresses. Remember her beautiful ghagras in the songs Lahumuh lag gaya and Nagada sang dhol (Ram Leela)? Those weighed quite a lot, and she danced the garba in them!
Speaking of heavy lehngas and costumes, do you remember Madhuri Dixit and her gorgeous outfits in Devdas? Each costume was a work of art, especially the one that she wore in Kaahe chhed mohe. As beautiful as that anarkali dress was, it made Madhuri quite uncomfortable because it weighed 30 kilos and she had to dance in it. Snaps to her for managing it all so well!
Wait, Sanjay Leela Bhansali films and super heavy outfits for the leading ladies… do we see a pattern here?
