The first trailer of Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet is out and it looks awesome. We, for one, are definitely going gaga and can’t wait for the film’s release. Everyone is looking really good, the plot is interesting and Anurag has managed to recreate the Bombay of 1960s to the T.
We’ve watched the trailer real closely (and over and over) and here is a list of things that we now know about the film, its characters and the interesting setup:
The Gangster Feel
Bombay Velvet has the quintessential gangster look and it been recreated quite well. We see vintage cars, sub-machine guns, bow ties, 60s style moustaches, well-cut pinstripe suits, gowns, glittery lights and bouffant hairstyles all over. We are loving the whole vintage gangster thing, especially the ‘rich indulging in horse racing’ situation!
Johnny Wants To Make It Big At Any Cost
The young, good-looking and fiery Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) is a street fighter but wants to be a “big shot”. He’s willing to take all the risks and even get his hands dirty, just as long as his ambitions are met. Khambata (Karan Johar) seems to taking advantage of Johnny’s greed.
Mysterious Negatives
We have been given glimpses of some very peculiar negatives that are in the possession of Rosie (Anushka Sharma). These negatives are extremely important and if lost, the results could be disastrous for not just the people involved,but also the entire city of Bombay.
The Lead Pair’s Love-Hate Relationship
Johnny and Rosie’s relationship in Bombay Velvet is full of love, chemistry and passion. On the other hand, there is something very sinister going on and the boxer declares that he intends to kill her single-handedly. It will be interesting to see how this affair progresses and what becomes of it. It is not every day that we see such a contradictory relationship on-screen.
