The film has done overwhelming business in it’s opening weekend
A month ago, no one would have thought that AR Murugadoss’ latest flick might rake such insane money at box office. With films like Shankar’s I and Vishal’s Poojai to compete, the road didn’t look easy for Vijay’s Kaththi . But the delay in Vikram’s I‘s release brought great news for Kaththi team as they have now single handedly taken over the box office, cashing in on the festive mood.
The film has been appreciated by one and all, as Kaththi roared at the box office by minting Rs 23.9 crores on the opening day. In the following days, Vijay-Samantha-Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer saw tremendous business as the film raked Rs 47.7 crore in India and Rs 23.35 crore overseas by the end of the opening week.
The film has made approximately Rs 71 crores at the box office, and with no big releases in the coming weekend, we wonder if Illayathalapathy Vijay’s Kaththi can be part of the elite Rs 100 crore club along with the likes of Rajinikanth‘s Kochadaiiyaan. With the positive word of mouth buzz around the film, we believe it just might.
