Box office collection and records created by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Happy New Year!


SRK-Deepika starrer hit the screes on Friday but their film has already raked in big moolah and re-written quite a few box office records…


Farah Khan’s latest directorial venture Happy New Year has literally stormed the box office. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah, the big budget film released on October 24 and got off to a flying start. While last year Khan and Dippy’s film Chennai Express tasted success during Eid, this year it’s Diwali which has turned out to be lucky for the duo. In fact, the musical extravaganza is on its way to break Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Dhoom:3′s box office record. Ad we are pretty sure it won’t be long before that happens considering there is no competition at the ticket windows. For now take a look at the records broken by HNY and its box office collection…


Domestic box office collection (Till Sunday): Rs 108.86 crore


Hindi: Rs. 104.10 crore


Telugu: Rs 2.92 crore


Tamil: Rs. 1.84 crore


Worldwide box office collection (Till Sunday): Rs 130.21 crore


India: Rs 108.86 crore


USA: Rs 10.47 crore


Canada: Rs 2.24 crore


United Kingdom and Ireland: Rs 5.59 crore

New Zealand: Rs 73.02 lakh

Records broken by Happy New Year


Shah Rukh-Deepika starrer collected Rs 44.97 crore on day 1 beating Aamir-Katrina’s Dhoom:3 first day record. The third installment of Dhoom franchise had raked in Rs 38.03 crore on day 1.


With the staggering first day collection, HNY surpassed Dhoom:3 and has now become the highest opening day grosser in Bollywood.


Happy New Year raked in Rs 108.86 crore in the opening weekend and broke Dhoom:3’s opening weekend record. Aamir starrer had grossed Rs 107.61 crore in the first weekend.


SRK and Deepika’s film is the fastest to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club.


HNY took only three days to cross the Rs 100 core mark at the ticket windows. The duo broke their previous record which was created last year by Chennai Express. Rohit Shetty’s directorial venture took four days to enter Rs 100 crore club.


Happy New Year is Shah Rukh Khan’s 5th film to enter Rs 100 crore club. Interestingly, this film is also DP’s 5th Rs 100 crore flick.


HNY is also the highest opening weekend grosser of 2014.
