Eversince Finding Fanny went on the floors it has been on the news for being an authentic film. It is one of those rare Bollywood films that last only for two hours and originally shot in English but now that its all set to release there are only 240 english prints that will be released in theatres, rest all would be hindi.
Indeed film maker Homi Adjania is upset as his film gets bare minimum original english prints compared to the dubbed hindi version. “When I make a film I make and tell a story. The organic language for Finding Fanny is English. The actual soul is in the dialogues delivered in English. It is shot in English and later dubbed in Hindi for the masses. I feel its a story that none of us would prefer to watch in Hindi and the English version is very easy to understand too”, said Homi.
Expressing his sadness about the films reach Homi said, “240 is the maximum English prints that any film can get in India rest has to be in Hindi. Similar is the case with Hollywood films, even they get just 240 english prints and I get that too. The majority is Hindi but I am sure everyone would prefer to watch it in English”.
Homi has tried to do something dofferent this time but sadly loses on the priginal flavour of English that he decided to offer the audiences. But considering we have such stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapur along with Bollywood’s reigning queen Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor even the Hindi version would do well.
