The Villains are the next Heroes in the Bollywood industry!

Ronit Roy has beautifully portrayed the character of a cynical police officer in Anthony D’Souza’s ‘Boss’, and he managed to impress everyone with his brilliant acting. The bad guy in the movie (Ronit Roy) stole the limelight with his subtle performance in the movie.

Of late, the Bad Guy in the movie is given more importance and emphasis. This is probably because the writers of the movies have realised that in order to make the impact of the hero more powerful, the villain or the bad guy should be given even more screen space and swagger.

Bollywood has had a very long tradition of villains who have had immense screen presence. But, apart from Amrish Puri, there haven’t been many character artists who could manage to grab the audience attention and attract them to the cinema halls. However, the trend is beginning to change again.

Almost all the established actors in the film industry wanted to give a try at role with grey shade, and the trend seems to be very visible. Irrfan has surely emerged and evolved into a fantastic actor through such roles. Even now, when he can select only positive roles, he is doing films like ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’. After all, who can forget his roles in ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Haasil’ which won our hearts?

Just like Irrfan, Rishi Kapoor to proved his versatility and has given great performances playing the negative role. From ‘Agneepath’ to ‘D Day’, he is doing many experiments with the kind of roles he is doing. Jimmy Shergill changed his entire image through villainous roles.

Taking a cue from his friend in the tinsel town, John Abraham did a note worthy job in ‘Shootout At Wadala’. His previous films like ‘Force’ gave a similar chance to Vidyut Jamwal to play the bad guy.

Actresses such as Konkona Sen Sharma and Huma Qureshi surprised the audience with her devilish acts in ‘Ek Thi Daayan’. anoj Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui made their way into the world of Bollywood by playing some very unconventional roles which not many actors would have given a shot.

Bullet Raja and R.. Rajkumar are the next movies to portray established actors in a dark role. The trend which was started by Amitabh Bachchan back in the 70′s is being followed by today’s actors. And, amidst all this, the villain has become the new hero in Bollywood.
