kshay Kumar's 'Joker' to release in August 2012 Not class with Ek Tha Tiger

New Delhi: Shirish Kunder's 3D movie Joker, starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, will release Aug 30 next year.
"Joker release date confirmed, to arrive on 30th August, 2012," Kunder posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The 38-year-old, who is married to choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, says the dates will not clash with Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, which has Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

"Joker is releasing two weeks after Ek Tha Tiger. Don't worry, not clashing, would never do that," he further tweeted.
The film is being jointly produced by Kunder and Farah's Three's Company and Akshay's Hari Om Entertainment Company.
Kunder, who made his directorial debut with Jaan-E-Mann in 2006, is also working on his action comedy, Kick. A remake of 2009 Telugu film with the same name, the film is being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and features Salman and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles.
"We start shooting Kick in June," he said.

RaOne Fails to beat Bodygurad(salman khan)- Really Trueeee at Box Office

Salman Khan prevail as the king of the box office, as Shahrukh Khan’sRa.One fail to beat the opening day box office record set byBodyguard. Ra.One released to much display on a record breaking 3,200 screens across India, with real-time release in 3D and a Tamil and Telugu version. Add to that, the cinema complex operators charging a finest prices for tickets due to Diwali, yet SRK’sRa.One could not collect up enough cash at the box office to beat Salman’s Eid hit Bodyguard. Salman Khan’s Bodyguard had released on 2,700 screens on Eid screens and had collected Rs.21crores on it’s opening day, with a sum five day collection of about 80 crores (likely). In judgment, Shahrukh Khan’s Ra.One has collected about Rs. 18.5 crores on it’s opening day. Many still believe that Ra.One movie will pick up and surpass Bodyguard’s five-day total. bearing in mind that Ra.One has been mostly panned by critics for its weak screenplay, and with a mixed reaction from the audiences, it ruins to be seen just how long Ra.One’s stellar run will continue at the box office.

How to be a superstar again like Salman Khan

Seems ki pichakar Bodygurad Super hit. In fact this movie biger than Dabanng. Once there was a time like this when salman was a superstar. He was one of the big three. His popularity was tremendous in India - when single screens still reigned supreme. People overseas were nuts for him. The man was a legend

The rise of the multiplexes dented Salman's box office viability. As Indians grew in stature on the global platform, they adopted a sensibility not aligned with Salman's old jhatka matka ways. They flocked to see more diversity and Salman's box office collections dwindled. His movies were still making money (Tere NaamNo Entry) but they were littered in a corridor of alarming clunkers (Salaam-e-IshqMarigoldGod Tussi Great HoYuvvraajVeer). Had audiences left Salman behind?

Out of nowhere Salman is having the time of his life. He's cranked out blockbuster hits like Wanted, Dabanng, Ready and Bodyguard. How did he make this dhuwadaar mother of all comebacks? Here is the formula - revealed at last!

Be patient - things will turn around

So what if multiplex audiences are rejecting you? Give them time. Pretty soon they'll start missing all their bad habits and come to watch throwaway entertainment. Can people afford to be intellectual all the time? No sir, they cannot! Besides they'll eventually have kids - who won't be as jaded about watching potboiler cinema.

Invoke the inner goonda in your core audience

While flipping channels recently I came across a scene from Dabanng. I watched for a few minutes. Next to me my 9 year old son Youngling pionted to Salman and said "Dad, he thinks he's so cool, but he's a jerk!" In that movie Salman walked the edge between a terrorist and a dil-ka-sachha romeo so dangerously that we all felt like we were watching something seminal - like Laila Majnu with Gulshan Grover in the lead.
By playing goondas who were well meaning but misguided, Salman invoked the inner boisterousness in us all.

Protect your image carefully

Look what happened to Salman's competition. Aamir Khan got all smartypants and started talking about issues and well rounded entertainment. Shahrukh embraced his middle age by becoming an increasingly benevolent maharaja. And that Kolkata Knight Ridersdebacle? Shudder! Lets not even go there. These two completely lost their edge.
But what did Salman do? He stayed true to his bad boy roots and made waves in the media for his jhagdas and romantic lafdas. Sure when those movies were flopping there was time left to crank out some paintings and reveal an artistic side. But that was on the down low. In an entertainment world of shifting sands, Salman became the most reliable touchstone.

Always make the same movie

Diversity is all well and good. But after a while you crave for ghar ka khaana. That home cooked meal is Salman Khan. Having the same daal roti sabzi each time is irrelevant. In fact, its sheer predictability is exactly why people gravitate towards it.

Convert your dances into anthems

See, there are three things you need to work out with the producer before you sign the movie. Reading the script might sound like one of those three things, but that is not for our man.
Instead insist on having a signature dhamaaka song. Then put lots of "common people" in it. You know like policemen, chaiwalas, jhaaduwalas and neta types. This will allow the "common man" to feel like Salman cares for them. And the people who consider themselves uncommon will feel that this is a noble thing to do and watch also.
Lastly keep your dance steps simple, like jerking your collar (Wanted) or pumping your belt (Dabanng) or putting your hands in your pant pockets and playing table tennis (Ready). You can bet everyone will try this once at home. Momentarily you will have a viral hit on your hands.

Make all your co-actors irrelevant

In Dabanng Salman acted with a creamy, sexy heroine who glowered and threw him meaningful glances. No one even knew how to spell Sonakshiproperly. Did it matter? No.
In Ready Salman acted with Asin, an overactor with lack of grace who was stuck with a bad stylist. Even when she danced it looked like she was practicing Jiu-jitsu. Did it matter? No.
In Bodyguard Salman acted with Bollywood's No. 1 heroine Kareena. Same result each time!
If you go watch all of Salman's scenes or songs with his costars you'll notice that Salman is acting all by himself. Salman struts around so much that every love song is a serenade to himself. Every fight is all about him outdoing himself. Every dialogue is in competition with his last movie to sound more dhaasu.

And in conclusion...

Now that I've been kind enough to reveal how Salman managed to become Bollywood's biggest star all over again: tum mujh par ek ehsaan karna, ke mujh par koi ehsaan no karna! Please don't try this formula at home. The world isn't big enough for another Salman Khan.

On day one, Ra.One loses to Bodyguard

The Rs 145cr film was released nationwide on Wednesday across 3,200 screens. Every multiplex had about 18 shows a day, and for this reason alone the collections were slated to be substantial. Ticket prices were 20% higher than regular prices at many places.

Salman Khan's Bodyguard, released across 2,700 screens, created a record first-day collection of more than Rs 21cr and picked up Rs 19.3cr on Day Two. But many still expect Ra-One to rake it in slowly. "Bodyguard collected about Rs 80cr in the first five days-my estimate is that Ra-One will collect between Rs 90cr and Rs 100cr," said Delhi-UP distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts.

Excited to be paired with Salman again: Prakash Raj

South actor Prakash Raj says he couldn’t have asked for a better Diwali gift, referring to the news of him being cast as the villain for the Dabangg sequel to be directed by Arbaaz Khan. Excited about his second innings with box office’s king Midas, Salman Khan, he says, “He’s a darling. He isn’t afraid of anyone. He let me be myself when we were shooting for Wanted (2009). I’ll be playing the villain opposite him and am looking forward to a crackling on-screen rivalry with him.”

After getting a whiff of Prakash Raj being cast as the antagonist, Dabangg’s ‘Bhaiyyaji’, Sonu reportedly got cold feet and refused to share any screen space with him. Apparently he was earlier supposed to continue as the baddie. And now, he didn’t want to play second fiddle to a powerful character actor like the National Award winner.

Ask Prakash if the reports of Sonu’s exit, refusing to play his sidekick, upset his celebrations, and he says, “I don’t care about other people’s insecurities. Arbaaz wanted me, so I’m here. If someone has a problem with that, they need to deal with it. What can I say?”

Dabangg 2 also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Vinod Khanna in pivotal roles. The actor, who was in town on Diwali for the script narration, is slated to fly back to complete the last leg of his bi-lingual directorial venture, tentatively titled Dhoni, based on a child’s aspiration to become a famous cricketer like the Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Prakash is also completing a Telugu film next month.

Bigg Boss 5: Salman Khan makes a last minute entry

Salman Khan flew to Mumbai from Istanbul last week to keep his commitment with the makers ofBigg Boss. After completing 6-7 hours of shooting at Karjat for Bigg Boss 5, Salman Khan flew back to Istanbul to shoot for his forthcoming Yash Raj FilmsEk Tha Tiger.

Salman Khan has been shuttling from Turkey to Mumbai and vice versa over the past few days. Whether it is his family, Bigg Boss 5 or good friend Himesh Reshammiya, everybody wants a bit of Salman's time.

Salman Khan had no time to recuperate after his recent surgery to rectify his nerve disorder. Soon after his surgery, Salman Khan began shooting for Yash Raj Films Ek Tha Tiger. As he had already made commitments to the makers of Bigg Boss 5, Sallu decided to go ahead with the show.

Last week, there was high tension and drama behind the scenes of Bigg Boss 5 as the makers were unsure if Salman Khan could come to Mumbai for the shooting on Saturday. Salman's co-host Sanjay Dutt was also told that he might have to shoot minus Salman and was already handed over an alternative script.

Though Salman Khan had been informed of the shooting much in advance, Bigg Boss 5 was unsure if he could make it on time as Yash Raj Films have been working on a tight schedule. Besides, they got the permission to shoot in volatile places of Istanbul with a lot of difficulty.

However, all's well for now as Salman Khan has made it to the Bigg Boss 5 house. However, only time will tell how much Salman can keep his health going!

Bollywood’s next bad man : Prakash Raj

Prakash Raj seems to have taken the place left empty by Dr Dang, Mogambo and Gabbar Singh. The national award winning actor from Tollywood is fast becoming Hindi film industry's most sought after bad man.

After playing the villain in Salman Khan's 2009 hit Wanted and Ajay Devgn's 2011 blockbuster Singham, Raj has bagged the negative role in Sunny Deol's next Ghayal Returns. The film goes on floors next month.

A source informed Mumbai Mirror, "Sonu Sood was being considered for the role. Manoj Bajpai was also in the running. But the filmmakers, Metro Movies, finalised Prakash Raj. He signed on for the project last week. His performance in Singham won him the role."

"The film is based in Uttar Pradesh. A major portion of the film will be shot in northern India and Prakash has already given dates for the same next month. He plays a comic villain in the film," added the source.

Mahendra Dhariwal's son, Chirag, will be producing the film. When contacted, Mahendra confirmed that Prakash has been finalised for the film. "We had considered Sonu and Manoj for this role but with the kind of script we have, Prakash was a perfect fit."

The film will be directed by Right Yaaa Wrong director Neeraj Pathak and also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Arshad Warsi and Tushar Kapoor in pivotal roles. Sunny will be seen in a double role in the film.

Box-Office Loves Salman Khan

The year from Diwali 2010 to Diwali 2011 was definitely the year of Salman Khan. Two years ago, his Main Aur Mrs. Khanna couldn’t survive even one week in cinemas and was premiered on the DTH platform within five days of its release. After the release of Wanted (in September 2009), he’s had a run that even he couldn’t have dreamed of – Dabangg, Ready and now, Bodyguard Main Aur Mrs. Khanna notwithstanding. How fate changed for Salman is unfathomable, but the film industry has been reaping the harvest ever since. Salman’s Bodyguard netted an unbelievable Rs. 20+ crore on the first day, on the festive occasion of Eid, making it the highest single day net collection for any film, ever. Obviously, Salman owns Eid in Bollywood: last Eid, his Dabangg had smashed all previous records on the day of its release, netting Rs. 14.35 crore on the opening day. In the Overseas circuit too, the opening day’s gross collection of Bodyguard in Dubai was 11 lakh dirhams, which was 4 lakh dirhams more than the previous record-holding film – again a Salman Khan starrer, Dabangg. In the UK, the first day’s record gross of Bodyguard was £60,000 but the next day, which was Eid (the film opened in UK a day before Eid), the gross collection jumped to £2,00,000, which is the highest single week-day collection ever for a Hindi film! Nobody has calculated this before, but on the Eid day, Salman Khan must be the world’s biggest star!

Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif free from danger in Turkey

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, who are in Turkey, shooting for Ek Tha Tiger are safe. More than 200 people died and 1,000 were injured in the 7.2 magnitude quake in Turkey.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were busy shooting for Ek Tha Tiger in Istanbul. However, the duo are safe as the earthquake struck Van, which is far away from the place they were shooting. Salman Khan, who was in India for two days to shoot for Bigg Boss 5 landed in Turkey on Sunday morning, which is when the earthquake hit Turkey.

After shooting in Turkey for two months, Salman will apparently fly to Iraq where there will be extensive shooting for the film Ek Tha Tiger. As per sources, certain portions of the film will be shot in the northern border of Iraq and other middle east countries.

Ek Tha Tiger, a spy thriller is slated to be an Eid release and is being shot in five countries. Speaking to a leading website, a source revealed that the action sequence in Ek Tha Tiger will be different from that of Bodyguard and Dabangg and will be more on the lines of Bourne Identity.

Brand Salman

With the success of Bodyguard, Salman is on a roll, having reinvented himself shrewdly. But other heroes can't seem to get the branding quite right, says Vijay Nair

So the latest release of Salman Khan, “Bodyguard” has set yet another record. Coming as it has on the heels of two bumper hits by the same superstar, “Dabangg” and “Ready”, the film managed to collect an unbelievable Rs. 88 crores in five days. The carping critics are welcome to write as many reviews panning these superstar vehicles as they want to, but Khan and his producers are laughing all the way to the bank. He has been crowned the Rajnikant of Hindi cinema and chances are remote that he will ever play a superhero like Batman or Spiderman in any of his future releases. He doesn't need to. Like his southern counterpart, he just has to play himself in film after film. There is nothing Salman Khan can't do in a routine masala thriller that these larger than life heroes do in lavish spectacles mounted by leading studios of Hollywood.
Effective re-work
Khan has a lot to thank Abhinav Kashyap for the new-found Midas touch of his films. It's not as if Salman Khan was not a superstar before “Dabangg”. But Kashyap re-launched him in a manner of speaking. Or rather re-worked the Salman Khan brand. Borrowing liberally from his leading actor's real life, Kashyap created a flawed hero called Chulbul Pandey with a heart of gold and an irreverent sense of humour. Chulbul Pandey struck an instant chord with audiences from Mumbai to Muzzafarpur. The masses loved him because he was someone they could aspire to be and the elite were floored by his goofy charm. But the main reason that Chulbul Pandey proved to be such a hit was because it was difficult to distinguish where the real life superstar began and the character dominating every frame of the film ended. For, if you go by all the reports that the paparazzi is always feeding the national press with, Salman is enfant terrible. He shoots the endangered black buck, runs over pavement dwellers in a drunken frenzy, beats up his girlfriends and has ugly rows with his peers. But when it came to his reel life avatar, carefully fostered by directors like Sooraj Barjatya and Sanjay Leela Bansali, Khan was always the quintessential hero, romancing his leading ladies with aplomb while remaining the loving mama's boy. The divide was almost schizophrenic and the box office too responded in an erratic fashion. Salman would have some of the biggest hits like “Hum Aapke hain kaun”, “Hum Dil De Chooke Sanam” and “Wanted”. But they would be inevitably followed by some of the biggest duds like “Marigold” and “Veer”.
Endearing character
It was left to Kashyap to reinvent Brand Salman in keeping with his real life persona. Chulbul Pandey is unpleasant and nasty but in an endearingly human way. He has strange ways of showing his affection by resorting to macho aggressiveness but we learn as the film progresses that his heart is in the right place. He is petty and generous, goofy as well as garrulous, mean with good intentions. Khan had all along mistaken ‘Being Human' to be only humane. Kashyap set it right for him making the brand wholesome. One aspect of the new Salman Khan as we encounter him in the recent blockbusters is that of Peter Pan — the boy who refuses to grow up and creates his own rules. Who is always searching for his perfect Wendy. And because he is an Indian Peter Pan, the mother is an essential part of his entourage and Kashyap was careful to retain her in his film. Salman Khan continues to reap the benefit of this newly-created brand with every successive release.
What Kashyap did for Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, who is a self-confessed ‘marketing' man has been doing for himself. Once “3 Idiots” caught the fancy of the nation, especially the youth, Khan has been hard at work creating a new-age urban brand for himself. Both as a producer and an actor, his films are either youth-centric or a commentary on social processes with a predominantly city perspective. Even “Peepli Live”, on farmer suicides in villages, has an equal amount of focus on the politics and machinations of television channels. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Aamir has been endorsing Anna Hazare's middle class agitation. He knows this is an uprising of a constituency who swear by his brand. When he was unable to convince them with the seminal line in his blockbuster “All is well”, he has been astute enough to now join them to protest the fact that all is not well. And Aamir is canny enough not to alienate any segment of his fan base. When his presence in Anna's fast, eagerly-lapped up by television channels, was followed by one of the prominent members of Team Anna praising L.K Advani and Sushma Swaraj, Khan came out on the Id day wearing a chikan kurta and wishing all his fans.
The third in this triumvirate, Shah Rukh Khan, in his brand quest, threw the baby out with the bathwater and is now living to rue his miscalculation. Shah Rukh with the loyal production houses of Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar backing him, decided to focus on the Diaspora brand. Whether he was romancing his sweetheart in enemy territory in “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” or going through the painful throes of cancer or adultery in “Kal Ho Na Ho” and “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”, his screen roles always had an NRI context. Maybe because he believes his brand succeeds in London and New York more than anywhere else. The kind of urbane, wickedly witty image he built for himself echoed more with professional doctors, lawyers and business folks settled abroad and of course the box office collections in Dollars and Euros were more than welcome for a man who has never made any bones about how important money is for him. He is the superstar who never shies away from dancing in high profile weddings to earn a few extra millions.
However, his last few films have demonstrated that this fetish of his has been at the expense of his films losing out with ‘Desi' audiences. “My Name is Khan” was a huge hit in many foreign lands, including West Asia but Indians were not impressed despite a much-publicised row of Khan with officials in an US airport on discrimination a few days before the release. Much now depends on “Ra One” and “Don 2”. But once again both films seem tailored for the Diaspora. In recent times, with the increasing popularity of Aamir and Salman, Shah Rukh's brand has taken a beating and no doubt the actor who is never shy of claiming ‘I am the best' is hard at work currently with script writers and directors to regain lost ground.
Other successful actors like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor have also been trying to create a successful brand image for themselves but unless they have a shrewd marketing mind like Aamir, their films are bound to follow the uneven trajectory of hits and flops in equal measure.
Or else, they can always call on Abhinav Kashyap to make it work for the

Mika removes 'Katrina' from song for Salman

Controversy specialist Mika Singh is at it again. The crooner who has penned and rendered the track Saari Duniya Mere Ispe, Neta Abhineta Mere Ispe for the forthcoming flick Loot has done a rethink. Reason? He did not want to rub Salman Khan the wrong way as he considers him his buddy.

Apparently the track in the comic caper mentions quite a few well-known people of the country including Bollywood folks. One of the names mentioned was that of Katrina Kaif. The line went Sun Meri Katrina Mera London Jana China.

A source said, "Mika has been excited about the track. He thinks it will be as well received as his Ae Ganpat and the recent Dhinka Chikha numbers. But after recording it, he felt he needed to remove Katrina's name. He considers himself to be a good pal of Salman, and decided to change the name from Katrina to Jacklina as it was a similar rhyming name."

The source also added, "Salman and Mika share a good relationship and all their songs together have been popular. Saari Duniya Mere Ispe is a fun Bollywood masala song and as Mika respects Salman, he decided to give it a pass and changed the name for the sake of his friendship with the star."

Incidentally, Mika has also acted in Loot, which stars Suniel Shetty and Govinda.

Salman Khan returns to Bigg Boss!

With Salman Khan returning to co-host the Aapka Farmaan episode of Bigg Boss with Sanjay Dutt, it would be interesting to see, if his ‘good friend’ Mahek Chahal can get away with her new-found arrogance on the reality show.
Ever since her nomination this week, Salman’s girl has been unnecessarily fighting and arguing with most contestants in the House. This week, she dramatically attacked new Housemate Siddharth Bhardwaj over petty issues and patched up with him later.
“Whether it is her ego or insecurity, Mahek is surely being unreasonable and coming across as artificial; just like Pooja Bedi. She may be doing all this to save herself from the eviction. But she needn’t worry about that when she has Salman Khan’s influential hand over her,” says a source.
Some time ago, it came to be known that the Norway-based Mahek is special to Salman. It was revealed that the superstar not only recommended her name for his earlier films Wanted and Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, but also for Bigg Boss.
According to reports, when Mahek got a call from the makers of Bigg Boss, she had already packed her bags and readied herself for the show, assuming that no one could ever refuse Salman’s recommendation. She was right!
Now, whether Mahek is getting too big for her boots is not as important as the bigger question: Can the Salman connection save her from eviction? The other five Housemates nominated this week include Pooja Misrra, Raageshwari, Juhi Parmar, Amar Upadhyay and Shonali Nagrani, while Pooja Bedi, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, Shradha Sharma, Mandeep Bevli, Vida Samadzai and Shakti Kapoor are safe for the time being.

Ranbir spent 30 days with Rahman for ROCKSTAR

For the music of ROCKSTAR, while A.R. Rahman was of course doing his job and Imtiaz Ali too was expected to participate extensively due to his experience in creation of chartbuster soundtracks for films like LOVE AAJ KAL and JAB WE MET , one wonders whether Ranbir Kapoor too pitched in a little with the music. After all for someone like him who is supposed to be a keen follower of music, there must have been some involvement at the least.

"Yes, I had to be involved but more in the capacity of a follower instead of a contributor," says Ranbir, "Since I am playing a musician in ROCKSTAR, it was important for me to surrender to the film's music. For that, I joined Imtiaz for every song setting that he had with Rahman. In fact I spent more than 30 days with Rahman at his workplace and saw the songs being created up, close and personal. It was nothing less than surreal to see Mohit Chauhan singing those songs that would be picturised on me a few months down the line."

This turned out to be such an eye opener for Ranbir that he further appreciated the depth of the character he was going to enact on screen.

Yes, I had been given a great backdrop when it came to the characterisation but then Imtiaz as well as I feel till date that sitting with Rahman and understand the nuances of music here only helped me grow further," says Ranbir, "I come with a huge disadvantage of not being someone who can sing and this experience only allowed me to feel convincing within myself to play the title role of ROCKSTAR. When you become a part of this entire music-making journey, it only gets easier to perform on the songs; more so due to the (musical) genre that ROCKSTAR belongs to."

Dharmendra keen to see the entire Deol family in one frame

2011 has been a wonderful year for yesteryear icon Dharmendra. He started with a dramatic comedy YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, which was kind of a tribute for his contribution to the Hindi film industry for 50 glorious years. And now he will be seen in a yet another beautiful film TELL ME O KKHUDA. However, what makes it all the more special is the fact that Dharmendra, who's only worked with his sons (Sunny and Bobby Deol) till date, for the first time will be seen sharing screen with daughter Esha Deol. And if this was not enough the film is directed and produced by his beloved wife Hema Malini.
When asked to Dharamji about this special moment to which he humbly replied, "It's just a time. There are good and there are bad times. Ups and downs are a part of life and every person goes through it. Bas Himmat rakhni chhaiye aur jee jaan se jena chhaiye. Life is a beautiful struggle. And I feel the amount of love people have given me for YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA with Sunny and Bobby the same they will shower on Esha too. We started on a good note with YAMLA and hope we end well with TELL ME O KKHUDA."

Ask him about his experience working with daughter Esha and he says, "It is nice. See, while working we are just actors and directors. Our entire focus is on work. Sunny and Bobby are usually scared of me but when it comes to work we just forget about the relationships and get into the skin of the character. My nature is such everyone feels comfortable and easy to work with me. This is the result even after 50 years I alive in audiences' heart. So I believe in live to love and love to live.

From ages we have loved watching the best on-screen jodi Hemaji and Dharamji together. However this time around Dharamji and Hemaji, rather than working as co-stars, are seen in actor-director capacity. Ask him about getting directed by Hemaji and he says, "See I am director's actor. So when someone has taken the reigns of direction I don't interfere. I just forget and completely handover myself to the director. At that point of time the director is the captain of the ship and I work according to a director's judgment. Yes, but I did provide for suggestions and also wrote a very emotional tear-jerking scene for the film."

Dharamji is also keen to see the entire Deol family in one frame, provided a good script comes his way. "I know everyone wishes us to see together but it's the script which decides the success of any film. If we get a good script we'll definitely work over it," says the warm actor on a parting note.

DABANNG 2 On Christmas 2012: Prakash Raj Possible Addition To Cast

Salman Khan is all set to scorch the silver screen as ‘Chulbul Pandey’ in Dabangg 2 that is scheduled for release on December 21st, 2012!

Will Akshay's OUATIM 2 take on Salman's 'Ek Tha Tiger' in Eid 2012?

When the makers of Ek Tha Tiger decided to release the Salman Khan starrer on Eid 2012, one wonders whether they really considered the fact that it was very early this year when the date was first blocked by Ekta Kapoor for Akshay Kumar's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2. Now with the two biggies all set to clash with each other, the question is whether it would indeed be healthy enough for the industry which would be better off to have two of the most awaited films of next year to be better spaced.

"It is unbelievable", says an industry expert, "Looking at the kind of flip-flop which is happening around biggies like Ek Tha Tiger, Dhuaan, Housefull 2, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, Ek Tha Tiger and Dhoom 3, it is akin to solving a jigsaw puzzle. Thankfully all of this is happening months in advance else it would have been sheer mayhem. Not less than Rs. 1000 crores are riding on these films and I hope there is a good understanding developed between the makers here."

In fact it was due to this very understanding that Sajid Nadiadwala had first taken a step in the right direction and pre-poned the arrival of his Housefull 2 so that there is no unnecessary clash with Ek Tha Tiger in June. The expert continues, "Akshay Kumar too didn't blink an eyelid when it came to decision of his friend and producer here."

However, now that Salman too has decided to leave the slot which was originally meant for Akshay and made space for Aamir instead (so that his Dhuaan releases in June), the clash seems to be inevitable on Eid due to Ek Tha Tiger now challenging Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 in the weekend leading to Eid (which falls on Sunday, 19th August).

"The good part here is that Salman, Akshay as well as Aamir have been in the industry for over two decades and well understand the business dynamics", says a senior filmmaker, "They will never allow ego to come in the way of their films. Yes, they are trying to help each other out so that it's a win-win situation for all. I am sure just like Aamir has now got the slot that he wanted and would be enjoying a solo release on 1st June, even Salman and Akshay will work out something for 17th August, the day when they are planning to bring their films."

Though makers of none of the films were willing to make any further confirmation on record, a reliable source from the production houses hinted that all doors are not closed to avert this clash. He said, "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 would begin shooting in February. As of now it will release on Eid but then there may be a date adjustment or postponement."

Dabangg 2 to release in December 2012

Salman Khan will have two releases in 2012. One at Eid [EK THA TIGER] and the other at Christmas [DABANGG 2]. Read on…

Ever since Arbaaz Khan tweeted on Monday morning that DABANGG 2 will start filming in March 2012 and will be released in Christmas 2012, people within and outside the industry seem to be discussing whether Christmas 2012 will witness the clash of the two mighty Khans -- Aamir [DHOOM 3] and Salman [DABANGG 2]. But the fact is DHOOM 3 has been shifted to 2013.

Arbaaz was forthcoming when this writer spoke to him, "All I know is that Bhai [Salman Khan] has told me to start filming DABANGG 2 by March 2012, so that we can release the film by Christmas next year. I have locked the script. I am currently having music sittings with Sajid-Wajid. I am raring to go ahead. I can state with surety that DABANGG 2 is confirmed for Christmas 2012."

Just last week, Aamir had requested Salman to move the date of EK THAT TIGER from June to Eid. Now Aamir seems to have vacated Christmas for Salman. Dosti ho to aisi!

Hrithik's AGNEEPATH beats SRK's RA.ONE & Aamir's DHUAN at satellite rights game

Hrithik Roshan has finally beaten the Khans in the movie rat race. According to trade insiders, Zee Network has apparently bought the satellite rights for his upcoming AGNEEPATH for a whopping Rs. 41 crore, which could be a new record. The transaction beats what Sony Entertainment supposedly paid for Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor tentatively titled cop caper DHUAN (Rs. 38-40 crore), and has also outclassed Star Network's reported Rs. 35 crore bet on this year's Diwali release, RA.ONE

Jayantilal Gada, CMD, Pen India Pvt Ltd, the agency that aids the purchase of films for Zee Cinema, justifies a hefty price tag, saying that channels study the production banner's track record on the small screen before pitching to buy satellite rights. 'We chose to buy AGNEEPATH over several other biggies because Karan's (producer Karan Johar of Dharma Productions) movies have always delivered great numbers. And the promo of this film showed promise,' he adds.

Without commenting on the figures, a trade smith says, 'There are only a handful of leading satellite channels in the market. Likewise, there are only four or five really bankable stars, and not more than 10 big films a year. Zee has shelled out the money for AGNEEPATH to break the pattern of Karan's films going to either Star or Sony, and to strengthen their market position.'

According to the trade circuit, the TV satellite rights market has grown more than 10 times in the last decade alone. 'Big flicks bring channels high TRPs and bumper ad revenue. And no channel keeps a film to itself. Syndication is a common practice, and it also helps recover costs, that otherwise wouldn't make economical sense,' he points out, recalling that the 2007 hit, JAB WE MET, was the first film in recent memory to be syndicated to different channels.

Surender Reddy gets B-town call, to direct Salman Khan

Surender Reddy's fortunes seem to be changing despite his Oosaravelli getting mixed reviews. The filmmaker, who shot to fame with his blockbusterKick, is gearing up to make his debut in Bollywood.

The filmmaker is all set to direct Salman Khan in the Hindi version of Kick. It was earlier reported that Bollywood director Shirish Kunder would direct the film. However, the Telugu filmmaker apparently got a call from the production house stating that they feel that the original director would do justice in the Hindi version as well.

However, the proposed project is expected to kick-start in mid-2012, as Salman Khan is fully busy with his other projects like Ek Tha Tiger and Sher Khan. Meanwhile, Surender Reddy is reportedly in talks with a leading actor for his next Telugu venture.
