The Rs 145cr film was released nationwide on Wednesday across 3,200 screens. Every multiplex had about 18 shows a day, and for this reason alone the collections were slated to be substantial. Ticket prices were 20% higher than regular prices at many places.
Salman Khan's Bodyguard, released across 2,700 screens, created a record first-day collection of more than Rs 21cr and picked up Rs 19.3cr on Day Two. But many still expect Ra-One to rake it in slowly. "Bodyguard collected about Rs 80cr in the first five days-my estimate is that Ra-One will collect between Rs 90cr and Rs 100cr," said Delhi-UP distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts.
