We know, we know – it’s a remake and remakes are usually not as good as the originals, but you might want to make an exception this time. Drishyam, which stars Ajay Devgn and Tabu in lead roles, was recently described as “mysteriously beautiful” by a leading daily, and we agree. The trailer has us very interested and those of us who haven’t watched the original are waiting on pins and needles (not reading the plot!).
Wondering if you should dedicate the last weekend of July to Drishyam? Here are four reasons why you should drop everything and get your tickets the moment booking starts.
It’s A Classic Whodunit
We all love a good mystery/psychological thriller and Drishyam is just that. What makes it even more interesting is the fact that this is not purely a ‘someone got killed and now we have to find the killer’. Drishyam has a very human/emotional angle attached to the story.
Ajay Devgn Is Keeping It Real
We’ve never seen Ajay display such a range of emotions in a single film. Okay,we’ve only seen the trailer but this bit is very evident. He’s crying one second and casting menacing glances in everyone’s direction almost immediately. A grey character? A mischief maker? An innocent family man being targeted for no reason? Must find out!
Tabu
Tabu’s role is a difficult one. She is a tough cop who is also a mother looking for her missing son. Has she nailed both the acts? Hell yeah! Interestingly, she also makes us want to drill some sense into her because we get the feeling that she is unnecessarily trying to pin a crime on Ajay. This should be good!
This is Not A One-Dimensional Movie
Murder mysteries and psychological thriller are usually pretty straightforward. Something happens and we spend rest of the time figuring out who created the mess. Drishyam is different. We have been promised a film that has an interesting plot and will evoke a range of emotions in us.
Convinced yet? If no, then please watch the trailer again. If yes, watch the trailer anyway because it’s awesome!
