It was just a couple dance reality show till the last season, but now Ekta Kapoor has decided to muck it up by adding some fake drama
For the last six seasons, Nach Baliye has been purely a dance reality show where celebrity couples compete with each other through their dancing talents. This season, Ekta Kapoor came on board as the prominent producer and decided to tweak it a little, much to our displeasure. The show will now see these footage hungry celebs living together for two months (in separate cottages), but coming together during rehearsals and performances. That’s not all, the TV Czarina needs drama too, so she’s added a new clause to the contract – the couples will be given tasks throughout the week and be awarded points on the basis of their performance. The new concept reeks of Bigg Boss concepts.
Every year, around October we see 14 out of work actors locked up in a house trying to survive politics, extreme living conditions and what not in Bigg Boss. The show goes on for over three months and tests patience of most viewers. With Ekta’s new NB concept, it seems like Bigg Boss is starting earlier. Arrgghhh!
If you remember a few months ago, Ekta took over Box Cricket League; she turned cricket into a melodrama show. And now she’s doing the same with Nach Baliye 7. It was fun when Nach was just about dance, dance and only dance. Why the hell is Ekta tweaking the format by adding new clauses to the show? Haven’t we had enough with Bigg Boss going on for four long months?
Frankly, I am really upset with the new format. If I wanted to see Bigg Boss, I’d tune into Colors in October, why torture me this early. I believe with the change in the format maybe they should even consider changing the name of the show. If they are not going to be judged on their dancing, then why call it Nach Baliye?
Knowing Balaji Telefilms, we will be forced to see the drama in the show more than the dancing this season. Ideally, it would no longer be a weekend show, but if NB airs only on Saturdays and Sundays – we wonder how will they incorporate all this unnecessary melodrama in one hour? Will they increase the hours of the show every weekend or will it become a daily? Well, we have our reasons to detest this change in plans, tell us what you think.
