Change it to Choone Chali Aasman, Khan had suggested. However makers revert to Margarita With A Straw

It was Aamir Khan’s idea to re-christen Shonali Bose’s film as Choone Chali Aasman. But now, the film has gone back to its original title Margarita With A Straw.

Aamir, considered an authoritative voice in the entertainment industry, was brought in to promote the Shonali Bose film at a late stage. He did a promotional event with the film’s cast and crew and also suggested a title change. Which has now been reversed.

Of course, there’s no disrespect meant to The Perfectionist. Clarifies Bose, “We did use the Hindi title Choone Chali Aasman for a while, as it was felt that English titles don’t work among non-metropolitan Indian audiences. But I feel every film has its own destiny and title. Hearing my film being called by another name didn’t seem right. So we’ve gone back to calling it Margarita With A Straw .” The title suggests the physically disabled heroine’s determination to enjoy the good things of life.

Margarita With A Straw stars Kalki Koechlin in the lead. The film is all set to hit the theatres on April 17.
