We were pretty excited about seeing Raveena Tandon as a gorgeous Jazz singer in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, but we don’t know if that would happen anymore. The film was originally supposed to open with a song featuring Raveena, where she was to introduce the characters. That song has now been edited out of the film, along with another number featuring the Mast-Mast girl.
So no Raveena in Bombay Velvet, then? We hope that’s not true! While some reports have suggested that the songs have been edited completely, there are some that are saying that a small portion of one of the songs has been retained. In addition to the Raveena songs, 3 songs featuring Anushka Sharma have been cutout as well.
Why were the songs let go, you ask? We’ve been told that this happened because Bombay Velvet’s length worried the American editor Thelma Schoonmaker. She then decided that all the songs had to go, so we will now get a BV from which Raveena would be largely missing.
We’re certainly not happy about this, but then again, we wouldn’t have liked a very long film either. While we battle conflicted feelings, Raveena, we’re sure, isn’t liking the situation at all.
Is this why the lady is, maybe, miffed with Kashyap? It was recently reported that when approached by the filmmaker for his production venture titled Return Gift, Raveena turned him down. Also, she said something about not knowing whether she would actually be a part of Bombay Velvet once the final edit is out as the film is still in the editing stage.
We certainly hope to see whatever little we can of Raveena’s glamorous avatar in BV. We haven’t been able to get the ‘pretty in a little black dress and big hair’ pictures out of our minds!
