It has been confirmed – Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan love their fans (us!) way too much. Why, you ask? Because they’re giving us an awesome Diwali gift by releasing Prem Ratan Dhan Payo on November 11! That’s right! The Salman Khan-Sonam Kapoor starrer family-entertainer is all set to hit the screens on Diwali this year.

Usually, Diwali is when we see a Shah Rukh Khan release and Eid is Sallu’s time. This year, however, SRK’s only major release is Rohit Shetty’sDilwale, which will see a Christmas release.
Here’s what we think – Diwali is the perfect time to release a typical (Indian) family film like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which will see Salman don the Prem avatar after a long time. It is India’s biggest festival, after all! Throw in our beloved Prem (two Prems, actually, from what we’ve been hearing) and we have the perfect recipe for some good ol’ ‘Indianness’ (Sooraj Barjatya’s word, not ours).
Salman was last seen as the loving and family-oriented Prem in Rajshri’s 1999 release Hum Saath Saath Hain. He then underwent a complete image makeover and while we love the actor’s Dabangg image just as much, we can’t wait to see him recreate the magic of the 90s. The pretty and chirpy SonamKapoor will make the perfect companion to Prem, of that we’re sure.
Looks like this will be an extra-special Diwali. We’re very excited and have already added ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo tickets’ to our Diwali shopping list.
