Dharam Sankat Mein quick movie review: Paresh Rawal’s religious satire is funny but only in bits

The Fuwad Khan directorial will hit screens on April 10

Vaicom 18′s latest offering, Dharam Sankat Mein is soon to hit theatres. The film that stars Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, and Annu Kapoor in pivotal roles is a religious satire. Our reviewer, Prateek Sur, is currently watching the press show and here’s what he thinks of the film so far…

“What it’s about: Paresh Rawal’s mother passes away and he gets to open her secret locker. He finds out that he was born to a Muslim family. However, all his life he had been brought up as a Hindu Brahmin. Now how well he copes up with that news and what all incidents follow makes the story line.

What’s good: Paresh Rawal carries the film on his shoulders. The comedy element is good but only in parts.

What’s bad: Naseeruddin Shah and Annu Kapoor are funny characters but are hardly visible throughout the first half. The comedy element could have been way more. The songs seem unnecessary and pointless.”

Let’s wait and watch for the second half if the story picks up on d lost humour element. Keep reading this space for the full review in some time!
