Dibakar Banerjee’s directorial venture may have got good reviews but it is struggling to rake in good moolah at the box office…
Sushant Singh Rajput’s latest release Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! so far has done average business at the box office. While the mystery thriller fared well over the first weekend, the film failed to pass the crucial Monday test. In the first three days Sushant starrer managed to rake in Rs 14.06 crore but on fourth day (Monday) the figures went down. And since then Sushant and Dibakar’s collaboration has been doing below average business at the cinema halls. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the updated box office collection of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! a while back.
He wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter, “#DetectiveByomkeshBakshy Fri 4.20 cr, Sat 4.50 cr, Sun 5.36 cr, Mon 1.68 cr, Tue 1.57 cr, Wed 1.34 cr. Total – 18.65 cr. India biz.”
Trade portal Boxofficeindia reported, “The film will probably close the week out out at around 19 crore nett and will not make much thereafter and may not even reach the 23 crore nett business of Shanghai.”
While Sushant Singh Rajput’s film hasn’t packed a solid punch at the box office, Hollywood action thriller Furious 7 which released on last Thursday is going strong at the ticket windows. In fact, late Paul Walker’s last venture has become the fifth all time blockbuster Hollywood flick in India. Guess there is no stopping the latest installment of Fast and Furious franchise!
