After Sonakshi, Sonam and Kalki Take On Deepika’s Short Film On Women Empowerment

After a wave of praise from Bollywood, Deepika Padukone and Homi Adajania’s My Choice has started to receive some mild (and some not-so-mild) criticism, mostly from new-age actresses who are known to be bold and outspoken. Recently, Sonakshi Sinha shared that she doesn’t really agree with the film’s content. She went on to say that the message is not even reaching the right women. Now, Kalki Koechlin and Sonam Kapoor have come out to share similar thoughts.

Kalki, who we can’t wait to see in Margarita With A Straw, is a staunch supporter of women’s issues and we all remember her ‘The Truths of Womanhood’ monologue. When asked about her take on My Choice (and here we must mention that Kalki and Deepika are close friends), the lady said that while the message makes sense in parts, she understands why people are questioning it. She went on to say that it is “unfortunate” that the whole thing has become a girls-versus-boys debate and wished that the video featured men as well, so that both the sexes could have their say.

Kalki feels that women empowerment is not about one-upmanship, it is about equality and we couldn’t agree more!

Sonam Kapoor, who doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with DP, has been a little more hard-hitting with her criticism. When asked to comment on the video, the Khoobsurat girl was quite sarcastic and said that she doesn’t need to make a video to voice her opinions (ouch!). She also said that “elitist” women tend to have wrong ideas about “feminism” and think that male bashing and hatred of men is what it is all about.

Very typically Sonam, isn’t it? She has once again spoken her mind and there has been no mincing of words.

Will Deepika say something now? We’re waiting to hear her side of the story!
