On the occasion of Women’s Day, we commemorate the success of these women who have excelled in the TV world and made a name for themselves
March 8 is recognized as International Women’s Day. To commemorate their success, BollywoodLife looks at 5 TV actresses who are more popular than their better halves. They have gone out and proved their worth with sheer hard work. We also commend their better halves for not being challenged by their partner’s success.
Rashami Desai: She started her career with Bhojpuri movies and then progressed to doing television shows. She did shows like Raavan, Pari Hoon Main, Meet Mila De Rabba and Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai before taking up Uttaran. She played the negative lead in the show and then came back to Uttaran after a break as a positive character. Rahami is currently doing Khatron Ke Khiladi and has managed to surprise even Rohit Shetty with her perseverance. She is definitely making us proud.
Barkha Bisht: Barkha and her husband, Indraneil Sengupta started their careers in the glamour industry about the same time. They did a show together, which put them on the map. Post their show – Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, Barkha became a sizzling sensation in telly land. Indranneil is also popular after all he has done several Bengali films, but we believe Barkha’s constant work in telly land kept her in the limelight and public’s immediate recall. Her co-actors are still envious of her curvaceous body and oomphalicious style, we don’t blame them.
Kratika Sengar: Playing Lakshmibai in Jhansi Ki Rani put this actress on the map. In spite of doing several shows she did not garner the popularity that Jhansi Ki Rani gave her. Post which she took up Punar Vivah and the rest like they say is history. Her hubby Nikitin Dheer is popular for his roles in Jodha Akbar and Chennai Express, but the popularity ratio is about 4:1 (Kratika at 4).
Sara Khan: Rajan Shahi’s Bidaai changed Sara Khan’s world and popularity. Post which she came on Bigg Boss changed her image completely before leaving. The actress started dating Paras Chhabra a model and actor from Delhi. Paras has done Splitsvilla and a few episode of Channel V’s The Serial. Need we say anymore?
Mihika Verma: After starting her career as a vamp, Mihika got fame, but it wasn’t the same as doing a lead role or a positive character. Ekta Kapoor changed her fate when she offered her a positive role in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Her better half, Mayank Gandhi was the winner of Splitsvilla 7. He has a few shows like Kasamh Se, Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna, Fear Files to his credit, but none catapulted to great heights.
On Women’s Day we congratulate these beautiful women who outshined their better halves and the men for being their support system. Go women power!
