Recently, Sunny Leone threw a starry fit on the sets of Ek Paheli Leela – strangely, it’s being touted as her “serious” film. God knows what that means. It is learnt that she demanded Victoria’s Secret lingerie worth Rs 10 lakh to perform the sensuous number Desi look. She lost her cool when the makers refused her unreasonable demands. After hours of reasoning and cajoling by the producers, Ms Leone eventually budged and adorned the regular designer outfit provided by the filmmakers.
Maybe, Sunny Leone thought, “A little too much oomph will save me, if not my film.” This thoughtless action may just cost Sunny more than what she bargained for. Is she becoming too comfortable in Bollywood too soon?
It seems like success gets the better of even the toughest backs. Sunny Leone has fame going for her right now. She has five more releases, Mastizaade, Laila Lele/Lily Lele, Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, Tina and Lolo and One Night Stand, lined up this year. Sources also speculate that, if all goes according to plan, the sexy siren will launch her husband and business manager Daniel Weber in Bollywood this year. Unfortunately, all won’t go according to ‘plan’ if she acts pricey and starry-eyed as if she is Priyanka Chopra. Sunny Leone’s is media’s darling. Indians enjoy her on screen while she’s a sought-after name in the lifestyle endorsement segment. She was securely flying the success kite high well, modestly and candidly, until she mixed up arrogance for charming with her recent, uncalled-for tantrum.
One would be wise than be sorry in this unforgiving industry, especially as an outsider. Sure, Sunny Leone is hot, sexy and every Indian male’s Dreams/Fantasy Come True. She has unforgettable hits like Baby Doll in her kitty, in spite of tough competition in Bollywood. She has truly worked hard to get where she is. We respect her for her honesty and candidness. We are generous in accepting Sunny Leone with her past baggage (read: porn-star history), deviating from our conservative righteousness. It’s like a mutual give and take between Indian entertainment and Sunny Leone, the Entertainer. However, Bollywood is a magnanimous industry. The best talents are showcased here and undoubtedly there are many talented actresses – in fact, more talented – thinking in retrospect. Also, nobody is irreplaceable. Superstars like Deepika Padukone would kill to borrow a bit of Sunny Leone’s popularity. And, Deepika is a legit actress. Then what made Sunny act so irrationally? She knows how dangerous and difficult it is to get where she is. One mistake and it’ll be downhill from there.
Heroine Drama – Sunny, Don’t Push It
Sunny Leone should probably Google repercussions of starry-eyed tantrum throwers. She will know the industry is impatient with such woebegone Heroine Drama is unacceptable. From Katrina Kaif’s, “Who the hell do you think are you touching?” airy attitude with an airhostess to Parineeti Chopra’s careless late attendance at brand endorsements, the media is well known to change sides practically overnight. Glitzy glamorous or then serious actress mood swings, Bollywood paparazzi appreciate their celebrity’s best pleasing behaviour at all times. If not, you face their wrath. Their wrath leads you to kind of extinguish from limelight, overnight.
PS: Dear Sunny, you’re still new. Don’t push it. Just stay low and continue to achieve.
