Rock On!! director Abhishek Kapoor drags Farhan Akhtar to court!

The director is unhappy with how he has not been given credit for co-writing the sequel to the 2008 hit film…

Abhishek Kapoor made he directorial debut with the superhit film Rock On!! which starred Farhan Akhtar and Arjun Rampal. Even though he is not directing the sequel to the film, Abhishek was reportedly happy with Rock On!! 2′s developments and he even co-wrote the film with Pubali Chaudhuri.

But now we hear that Abhishek is terribly upset with the makers of Rock On!! 2 and has even decided to drag producers from Excel Entertaiment, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar to court. Abhishek has reportedly filed a case against Excel Entertainment for not giving him due credit for co-writing the film with Pubali Chaudhuri. Abhishek has filed a case with the Bombay High Court against the production company as they have refused to acknowledge that Kapoor has also written the story of Rock On 2.

In the lawsuit Kapoor mentions that he wrote an email to Pubali which read, ” heard about Excel making Rock On 2. Have they contacted you? I have a feeling they would want to make our script.” But Pubali reverted saying that she was unwell and that she would discuss the same with Kapoor on a later date. While Chaudhuri told Kapoor that she was ill, she went ahead to get the script registered by the Film Writer’s Association on the very same day!

About the said breach of trust the suit filed by Kapoor says, “The malafide conduct of Chaudhuri can be seen from the fact that when the plaintiff (Kapoor) addressed an email, she did not dispute the contents whereby Kapoor referred the script as `our script’. In fact, she made a false statement that she was unwell. Had she been unwell, she would not have got the script registered the same day. It is clear from the conduct of Chaudhuri that she cheated Kapoor. It was a blatant breach of trust.”

According to a portal, in his suit Abhishek has asked for an injunction against Excel Entertainment which should stop the production company from producing the film. He has also asked for disclosure of all agreements made with him to the court.

Reports about Abhishek being miffed with the makers of Rock On!! 2 for not signing him but a younger director to make the film did rounds earlier. But the matters have worsened now that he has dragged the producers to court. The film starring Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor was to be shot in Shillong but the court case will delay the film from going on floors!
