Steven’s next is a Cold War film. Read on to know more!
Filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Cold War movie has been officially titled Bridge of Spies. A dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events, Bridge of Spies tells the story of James Donovan (Tom Hanks), a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the centre of the Cold War when the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) sends him on the near impossible task to negotiate the release of a captured US U-2 pilot, reports a popular portal.
The film will be scored by Thomas Newman, marking the first Spielberg film in decades without score by his frequent collaborator John Williams, who recently worked with Spielberg in the 2013 film Lincoln.
The Oscar-winning composer is expected to reunite with the director in his other film The BFG. He passed on the Bridge of Spies because his “schedule was interrupted and he was unavailable to score the film due to a minor health issue, now corrected.”
Apart from Hanks, the film also stars Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan, Scott Shepherd, Sebastian Koch and Alan Alda.
Bridge of Spies is slated to release on October 16.
