The veteran actress Rati Agnihotri, who had become an overnight star with the yesteryear smash hit Ek Duje Ke Liye, is one unhappy woman these days. The reason? Her marital discord with husband Anil Virwani reached its ultimate stage recently. So much so that, she went on to file a police complaint accusing Anil of domestic violence and also intimidation.
Rati, in her police complaint, had mentioned that she had been suffering the violence for a long time now. Speaking about the case, S. Jaykumar (DCP- Zone-III) said that, Rati Agnihotri, who married Anil Virwani in 1985, had filed a complaint against him stating that he was mentally torturing her and also physically assaulting her. He added that a case has been registered against Virwani under IPC sections 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 350 (use of criminal force) and 506 (criminal intimidation). While the police are in their process of investigation, they also said that she did not mention any specific reason as to why her husband tortured and thrashed her. The cops feel that Virwani's failing business could be one of the reasons for him to lose his temper.
Meanwhile, Anil, on his part, said that, what had happened was shameful and shocking. He added that one must respect his wishes of not saying anything in the matter as it's between him and his near and dear ones.
