Milap Zaveri miffed over Anurag Kashyaps comments on Masti and Grand Masti

A recent interview given by Anurag Kashyap on Bollywood Hungama created sensational news after Kashyap claimed that he would never watch a film like Masti and Grand Masti owing to its content.

This obviously angered Milap Zaveri, the writer of those films, who took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the statement. The interview had Anurag Kashyap saying, "I won't watch Masti and Masti 2. Mein cable pe nahi dekhonga, free mein nahi dekhonga, paanch crore diya toh bhi nahi dekhonga."

Miffed with the statement given by Anurag Kashyap, Milap spoke to Bollywood Hungama on the matter saying, "I have no issue with Anurag not liking the film (Grand Masti) which I have been a part of. If a gentleman like Mr. Sooraj Barjatya who doesn't make sex comedies says that he doesn't like these kind of films and doesn't want to watch it, I would not have an issue. But Anurag (Kashyap) who himself has produced a film like Hunterr which is a sex comedy and during the promotion of the film says that he is not "frustrated enough to see Grand Masti", then I just think its double standards because if you don't want to see something then why are you making the same genre?"

Milap Zaveri further also added, "Why are you piggy backing and making comments on the most successful film in the history of that genre. Obviously you are doing this to promote your own film by making such scandalous statements and saying that you are not frustrated? Does that imply that all people in India who went to see Grand Masti are frustrated? When someone doesn't like a film, it's ok because everyone is entitled to have an opinion. But there is also a civilized manner in which you say it. In the same interview, there were others present like Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl but they were very civilized and did not get into this drama. Anurag, on the other hand, went into this complete theatrics and drama which I thought was very derogatory."

Though Milap is upset with Anurag, he wished well for Hunterr. Milap said, "I hope Hunterr becomes a huge hit. Then he realizes the power of this genre, so that next time he ridicules these movies, he will understand that the audience who is 'frustrated enough' to watch this genre is very huge and are waiting for such films. It is probably the reason that he being a businessman has produced such a film (Hunterr). He has obviously got the publicity he wanted."

Milap Zaveri had taken to Twitter to comment on one of Anurag Kashyap's older films saying, "Anurag says he isn't frustrated to see #GrandMasti Correct. He makes #Girlintheyellowboots where a father gets handjobs from his daughter." Clarifying on the statement, the writer said, "I have no issues with The Girl in Yellow Boots or any film that one makes. If I am making films in the same genre, I am obviously not holier than thou, I have no right to criticize Kya Kool Hain Hum or even Hunterr. If he had seen the film and not liked it, its different but his whole moral ground maintaining that he doesn't even wanna watch it even if someone pays him Rs. 5 crores, means that he is demeaning the film when you are trying to cashing in on the box-office by making Hunterr. Grand Masti is the baap of sex comedies and baap ko gaali dekhar aage badna chahte ho?"
