There is a Parisian hidden inside Kangana Ranaut – of that we’re sure. Otherwise how would we explain these three things. 1. The way she smiles at the camera while taking a selfie – so reassured and confident. 2. The way she drapes that big-ass Dior jacket across her shoulders like a seasoned fashionista 3. The way she parties – with the right people at the right places. Ok, also because she rocked a fabulous selfie at the Eiffel tower BFF-ing with the king of Bollywood fashion, Manish Malhotra. But mostly, because she’s so very effortless and can be quite a treat to see. That’s why we put together her fashion escapades all gleaned from Instagram to give you a lesson on French dressing and personal fashion. Enjoy!
French Fashion Lesson #1: When in Doubt, Wear Monotone
That emerald green dress with a nice little shrug is so easy to wear that it makes us wonder how effortless Kangana looks here. Simple dress, check. Simple shrug, double check. On top of it, we are loving those pointy shoes that give her an elegant look. Let’s not forget that we’re indians imitating the French so she closed the deal with a rani pink embroidered lush clutch. Ah, the sheer awesomeness of that look.
French Fashion Lesson #2: To Rock a Mini, You Need a Blazer
She’s taken the road less travelled and wore an innovative Jean Paul Gaultier dress at the Samsung event in Paris. The futuristic mini dress in silver is so out-of-the-box and so inventive that it shook our very core. And what’s more #epic is that, there is a half blazer attached to the look and it looks like a lotta fun. Where will the french be without blazers? You guessed it right, they’ll be sporting half blazers.
French Fashion Lesson #3: Tee Shirts Are Good For Cafes (Especially If You’re Hanging With The Who’s Who Of PFW)
Kangana keeps it real in Paris, as it should be. That’s why you see her sporting her wild-hair-don’t-care attitude with a cool tee at a cafe, spending quality time with the Vogue team and Bibhu Mohapatra. What we loved is her carefree attitude, her real hair and her funky tee along with some cool natural makeup. This is one look that will be easy to copy – only work on the attitude.
French Fashion Lesson #4: Camel / Nude Should Be Number One In Your Closet
Often times as Indians, we forget that there are other colours in the world other than fuchsia, red and gold. Enter, Camel and your life is never the same again. Take some cues from Kangana who sports that shade with great awesomeness while idly sitting at a French cafe. That white dress with slits was wonderful too – but points to Camel and how it can take your style from yawn to yum!
French Fashion Lesson #5: Knee-length Socks and Bug-eyed Glasses Must Always Have a Place in Your Wardrobe
While you’re just gazing at her nice lavender dress and that nice Salmon jacket, Kangana simply slipped in some amazing goodies into her styling cart. Just check out those neat socks + shoes combo and those cutesy big sunglasses – we are totally in love with the details. After all, the french like their details – it’s all about slipping something in when no ones looking.
French Fashion Lesson #6: Shiny is Good But Red Lips Are Far Better
Even in a picture that only shows half of her outfit, Kangana manages to give us fashion inspiration. Her super shiny dress + statement necklace combo is bang-on but what caught our attention was her retro style hair and those fire-engine red lips. So immaculate and bold – these two manage to turn her look around and make it memorable.
French Fashion Lesson #7: Printed Dresses + Bulky Coats = #WIN
Simplicity, thy name is Kangana. In this night look, partying with Kalyani Chawla of Dior, Kangana keeps it easy and effortless. Her printed pencil dress melts into that big peach jacket giving us a classy and elegant look. Mixing prints and monotones is the way to go!
