Sharat Katariya’s directorial venture Dum Laga Ke Haisha starring Ayushmann Khurrana and newbie Bhumi Pednekar released last Friday and got off to a slow start at the box office despite critics lauding the film. On day 1, the breezy romantic film ended up collecting only Rs 1.11 crore. However, over the weekend Ayushmann starrer fared much better thus bringing its opening weekend collection to Rs 6.8 crore. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter a while back, “#DumLagaKeHaisha continues its glorious march. Fri 1.11 cr, Sat 2.12 cr, Sun 2.85 cr. Total – 6.08 cr. India biz [769 screens]. Excellent.”
Adarsh further tweeted, “Despite a slow start, #DumLagaKeHaisha clocks 6.08 cr in opng wknd. Goes to prove the power of solid content. #DumLagaKeHaisha has DUM.”
According to Boxofficeindia, “Dum Laga Ke Haisha had low weekend figures but a very strong trend which should mean a good run for the film.”
In that case, we won’t be surprised if Dum Laga Ke Haisha turns out to be the surprise hit of this year!
