Aah Holi! The wonderful festival of colours. Bollywood is no stranger to it and all the fun that it encapsulates. Almost every film has a Holi song, complete with merrymaking.
As much as we love our Holi gaanas, there is something that we have to admit – Bollywood takes adages like ‘Bura na maano Holi hai’ and ‘Holi hai, sab chalta hai’ a little too seriously. There are quite a few things that actors get away with on-screen, which would just lead to people calling the cops in real life.
If we tried to play Holi Bollywood-style, there is a strong possibility that quite a few arrests would be made. Don’t believe us? Read on.
Scantily Clad Man Went Full Creepy (Mohabbatein)
The song is Soni Soni Akhiyon Waali and Uday Chopra is taking sleaziness to a new level altogether, all under the pretext of playing Holi with Shamita Shetty. If this was real life, Uday would have gotten in some real trouble because he would have been reported for eve teasing, inappropriate touching and blatant sexual harassment, and that’s just a few. We’re not even going to talk about what he’s wearing.
Seedy Guy Follows Girl Around Town (Ram-Leela)
It’s Holi and Deepika Padukone is having fun. Suddenly, a weird, albeit gorgeous looking, Ranveer Singh starts following her around. She dances with him, and a kiss later, love happens. How convenient and lovely! Only, things wouldn’t have been so romantic in life. The girl would have probably snuck away to pull out her phone and dial 100 to report a man who has been tailing her and is trying to stare down her blouse. And why is Ranveer’s shirt undone for most part?
Mr Bachchan Romances Another Man’s Wife in Full Public View (Silsila)
Yes, Rang Barse is the original Holi anthem and Silsila is an amazing film, but that doesn’t discount the fact that Amitabh Bachchan’s behavior wass weirdly inappropriate. Now, he eluded arrest, an imminent divorce and a lifetime of spousal support payments because, well, it’s a movie. Real life scenario – Sanjeev Kumar beats the man being overtly flirtatious black-and-blue and takes his wife away, the cops get involved, things get dirty, Jaya Bachchan files for divorce and Big B goes from lover boy to certified sleaze ball.
Impudence of a Crazy Man and His Friends (Deewana)
Shah Rukh Khan falls in love with Divya Bharti, who is a grieving widow and wants nothing to do with him. Pumped by his friends, the man lands at her house on Holi (the friends are all with him, by the way) and corners her, very literally. Then there’s the whole cliché about him throwing laal rang at her, you know the drill. Yes, because it really is that easy to strut into a lady’s house and push her against a wall. There are special prison cells for people who do this.
Everyone Conveniently Forgets Where They Are (Darr)
The song is Ang Se Ang Lagana and you really need to watch it to know what we’re talking about. The entire family seems to have gone over the top. All we’re going to say is that if this were happening in our neighborhood, we would have probably reported the whole lot for indecent exposure and vulgar public display of affection. What was Anupam Kher thinking?!?
