The Singham Returns director has turned a year older today and while we pretty sure he will continue to entertain us for a long time, here are 5 reasons that make him a total rockstar…
Apart from Aamir Khan, its Rohit Shetty’s birthday too. Yes, while the former has turned 50, the latter will celebrate his 42nd birthday today. Shetty, who rose to fame with his 2006 film Golmaal, is one of the most successful commercial filmmakers in Bollywood today. In fact, he is one director who hasn’t really tasted failure. Yes, believe it or not, but the Chennai Express director has a terrific record at the box office. Well, currently the talented filmmaker is gearing up for his next directorial venture Dilwale which is slated to release during Christmas this year. While we can’t wait for his Christmas offering, today on his birthday, we give you 5 reasons that make him a superstar in real sense…
King of Rs 100 crore club
Well, there is a reason why I said Rohit has a terrific success record at the box office. His last five films – Golmaal 3, Singham, Bol Bachchan, Chennai Express and Singham Returns – all got registers jingling and how. While all five films entered the Rs 100 crore club, Chennai Express which released in 2013 went on to enter the coveted Rs 200 crore club.
Doesn’t belong to any Bollywood camp
He is one director who has maintained cordial relationship with everyone in Bollywood. From Ajay Devgn to Shah Rukh Khan to Karan Johar, Shetty is friends with all of them. In fact, he even got Kajol’s hubby and SRK to patch up last year. And it won’t be surprising if Rohit soon teams with Salman Khan too for a film. Yes, the Chennai Express director is someone who doesn’t believe in camps. He will work with with anyone he wants and that’s indeed commendable.
Comedy ka baadshah and action ka superstar
Rohit Shetty films work wonders at the box office because the filmmaker has mastered these two genres. With the successful Golmaal franchise, the 42-year-old director proved how good he is with comedy. And as for action, well, if there is anybody who can make a car fly and make it look believable than its only Mr Shetty. If you’re still not convinced then watch Singham and Chennai Express once again and we are sure you’ll agree with us!
Television ka hero
Not only Rohit Shetty has tasted success as a filmmaker, with Khatron Ke Khiladi he has even proved his mettle as a television host. And that’s the reason he is back hosting the sixth season of the adventure reality show. Also, replacing Akshay Kumar could have been a daunting task but Shetty seems to have done it with great ease. So extra brownie points to the Golmaal director for that.
Bringing back the iconic DDLJ jodi
For his next film Dilwale, Rohit Shetty has managed to do something which many couldn’t have. He has signed Kajol opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Yes, the filmmaker is not only bringing back the Fanaa actress on the big screen but he also getting the most loved onscreen jodi back on 70 mm after 5 long years. Well, nothing gets better than this, right peeps?
