After Karan Singh Grover and Jennifer Winget’s divorce, another TV couple has ended their relationship. Divyanka Tripathi and Ssharad Malhotra have decided to part ways after seven years of being together. The former couple confirmed the news in a joint statement issued to the media.

The start

Many believe that Divyanka Tripathi and Ssharad Malhotra met on the sets of Zee TV’s popular show Banoo Main Teri Dulhann which began on August 14, 2006. However, that’s not the case; the two actors met on the popular star hunt show – Cine Stars Ki Khoj, 2004. Both Divyanka and Ssharad were new to the television industry and hence, preferred to keep to themselves in the start.

We Are “Just Friends”

While they were shooting for Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, rumours about their real life romance started doing the rounds. But the duo conveniently brushed the story aside by claiming that they were just good friends and nothing more.

When the love become more strong…

Banoo Main Teri Dulhann came to an end, but the two were roped in again to do a short film together titled A Divorce to Remember. They grew closer and this time it was to stay. Rumours of their alleged relationship again surfaced but they simply kept denying it. In between all this, the duo was often in touch on the phone and sometimes in person too.

The confession

There came a phase when Ssharad had no projects in TV and his career in the movies was tanking, but Divyanka supported him throughout. This brought the couple closer and strengthened their relationship. Then Divyanka finally landed a plum project with Balaji Telefilms – Yeh Hai Mohabbatein after doing several small time shows. As soon as the show became a huge hit, the couple decided to come out in the open about their relationship. That is when Ssharad landed the lead role in Maharana Pratap (Sony TV); the couple made a public announcement of their relationship and claimed that they will soon tie the knot.

Their’s was nothing but a a fairy tale love story that people always thought would lead to marriage. But then, as they say, ‘expect the unexpected’. And out of nowhere, we had the news that the two have spit!
