The Top 8 Looks On The Oscar Red Carpet and What They Can Teach Bollywood About Style!

The Oscars 2015 were a riot. There were fabulous bodies, extraordinary ideas and a whole lot of style. That’s the thing about the Oscar red carpet – it’s so exclusive and so ideal that we at Bollywood fail at comparison. Those delicious hair dos and picture perfect lips and those sculpted cheekbones that match perfectly tailored dresses – ah, don’t we just love it.

So we put together eight best looks at the Oscars and what they can teach our Bollywood stars about red carpet dressing. Dear Bollywood, you are fab, but once in a while, you need to shake up things a bit – so read and repeat!

Jennifer Aniston

JENNIFER-ANISTON Somehow Jennifer Aniston always prefers white or black and she wears both of them well. But this time, she chose a very pretty nice beaded Versace gown that really shows off her legs well. Devoid of jewellery and just armed with fabulous nude sandals – she stole the show.

Lesson To Learn: White dress + no jewellery can only work if you have killer legs. Show them in style!

Reese Witherspoon

REESE-WITHERSPOON Nominated for Wild, this petite beauty sure knows how to dress her body. A black and white Tom Ford is good enough for her and that off-the-shoulder look gives her a classy and elegant look. Hair is parted and those diamond bangles did her outfit a big favour.

Lesson to Learn: Simplicity is all about elegant cuts and classic silhouettes.

Meryl Streep

MERYL-STREEP The first lady of cinema as we’d like to call her sure keeps away from the fuss. Unlike her Indian contemporaries who overboard in Indian jewellery or slinky saris – Meryl Streep always keeps her look age appropriate. The look is simple – a maxi skirt paired with a blazer and a tiny stylish belt peeking out. What’s not to love!

Lesson to Learn: A blazer is always a good idea – just pair it with care!

Emma Stone

EMMA-STONE We never ever needed a reason to praise Emma – she always keeps her looks interesting and she knows how to laugh at herself. But this time at the Oscars, she hit a jackpot with that shiny gold number. The slinky dress by Elie Saab with retro hairdo and high slit was a winner even if she didn’t get nominated.

Lesson to Learn: Red lips and retro waves will suit any red carpet outfit. Just try!

Cate Blanchett

CATE-BLANCHETT Oh, just when you thought wearing black was a bad idea and a boring one – Cate jumped out of the woodwork in a Mason Margiela cocktail gown. So subtle, yet so glamorous but mostly, awe-inspiring. The bold blue neck piece just added the charm – so fresh!

Lesson to Learn: When black gets boring, add a pop of colour to shine!

Dakota Johnson

DAKOTA-JOHNSON The fabulous star of Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson turned up the heat in a bright engine red Saint Laurent gown with a crystal embellished strap on one side. What’s more? She added a red lip to go with the look and stuck to her signature bangs. We loved the fact that she came as herself!

Lesson to Learn: Red is always the best colour to flaunt – but make sure you wear your hair in a more casual way so as to not look over-the-top!

Scarlett Johansson

SCARLETT-JOHANSSON It’s a green on green for hottie Scarlett this time. Her Versace dress in emerald green paired with another green statement piece was a sight for sore eyes. We loved how she wore her hair – almost like a boyish hairdo with peach lips. Really adventurous!

Lesson to Learn: Matching is the best thing to do – if you can do it right.

Jennifer Lopez

JENNIFER-LOPEZ Fairytales are real – somehow Jennifer Lopez ended up looking like a real time princess in her sequin nude Elie Saab with so much flounce and sheer fabric. We loved the extravagance, the bold cleavage and the nude make-up. It was probably the best outfit of the night!

Lesson to Learn: Going all nude might just be the best idea. But always keep your cleavage show tasteful.
