Dhanush’s Raanjhanaa, Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang, Ranbir Kapoor’s Besharam – films that Shahid Kapoor rejected!

Shasha turned 34 today…

Shahid Kapoor has been on the top of his game this last year. His Haider has definitely hit the mark and people have forgiven him for giving disasters like Kismet Konnection, Mausam, Teri Meri Kahaani and others. He has now become that actor who could mould himself into any role in any film. However, in the past he has rejected some big films saying that he wouldn’t be able to crack the role. Wonder what those films are?

Raanjhanaa

We all have loved Dhanush’s portrayal of the super obsessed lover boy of Sonam Kapoor, but did you all know that Shahid was offered this role first? Now that film had a meaty enough role to make Dhanush a superstar in Bollywood, but Shahid definitely missed out on it.

Gori Tere Pyar Mein

Imran Khan’s portrayal of the high class city guy wasn’t given a lot of appreciation by the fans, but did you know that Shahid was the first choice to play the character onscreen? Maybe he turned down the role considering that Kareena Kapoor didn’t want to work with him and she was being cast as the main female lead. Just maybe!

Besharam

We all hated Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of this guy without any self respect, but would you have loved it had Shahid played the character? Guess no! Also the makers wouldn’t have been able to get the three Kapoors (Rishi, Neetu, Ranbir) in one frame had Shahid not rejected the film before.

Shuddh Desi Romance

Sushant Singh Rajput’s portrayal of a desi lover boy did get the critics to stand up and notice him, but would they have done the same had Shahid played the role? However, it would have been interesting to see how Shahid would have fitted into a Maneesh Sharma sort of a romcom.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaraa

Imran Khan once again bagged a role which was initially written keeping Shahid in mind. The film bombed at the box office and we don’t blame Shahid for not accepting the role. But had he done so, we could have seen him paired opposite the dhamakedaar Sonakshi Sinha long before R…Rajkumar.

Bang Bang

Not that we didn’t like Hrithik Roshan romancing Katrina Kaif, but Shahid would have made a unique pairing altogether with her. Also Shahid had Haider releasing on the very same day. Had he accepted the role, he couldn’t have had carried off the strikingly different looks from both the film at the same time.
