The rights of the much-awaited biopic on Dhoni’s life have come at an insane amount of moolah. Read on to know more…
After Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom, we are going to see yet another inspirational story told via biopic. Sushant Singh Raput will be seen playing the legendary Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the silver screen.
However, let us tell you that the rights to this biopic will cost a bomb to the studio. Reportedly, Dhoni has quoted Rs 80 crore. Yes, you read that right! And guess what? Rs 20 crore has already been paid to the cricketer. Wait, it doesn’t end there. Apparently as part of the back end deal, Dhoni will also get a share in the film’s profits and royalties.
“Negotiations have been going on for a while but the deal has only recently been sealed for Rs 80 crore. Of this, Rs 20 crore has reportedly been paid to Dhoni for the rights to his life story,” a source was quoted by a tabloid.
Fox Star Studios have acquired the rights of the film, which is officially titled as MS Dhoni: An Untold Story.
However, the studio spokesperson denied the story and said, “Discussions are on but the figures you mention are completely incorrect.” Ah, well.
