Shankar’s magnum opus has been going strong on Tamil and Telugu box office
The fanfare surrounding Vikram’s I reached it’s peak, when the long awaited film finally hit the screens this Pongal. Taking into the account the wide spread promotions and the buzz around the film, trade experts predicted strong opening for I at box office. The predictions seem to be spot on, as Vikram-Amy Jackson starrer has made Rs 55 crore at the first three days after it’s release.
While the critics gave mixed reviews about I, the audience seems to be unaffected by it, as I has been going great guns at Tamil and Telugu box office. After the first three days, Vikram’s I has raked Rs 31 crore in Tamil, Rs 22.67 crore in Telugu and Rs 1.95 crore in Hindi. While the figures at Bollywood box office don’t seem to be great, it is to be noted that the Hindi version of I released a day after Telugu and Tamil release.
The biggest test for I starts now, as it would be interesting to see if I makes merry at box office even after the opening weekend. With the latest protest by transgender community, I is expected to hog the limelight for few more days and trade pundits believe I will continue to be steady at box office for coming days.
