The PK actor made his directorial debut with Taare Zameen Par but has been away from being behind the camera since…
He’s usually talkative, rather opinionated even. This time around, though, Aamir Khan is rather reticent. More so, when asked about his upcoming films.
YES, WILL DIRECT
It has been seven years since his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par. Giving up already? He avers, “I do have plans to direct a film. But it won’t happen any time soon”. He also confirms that he has already found a script to direct. “The film is called Barf. I loved the script and in fact, I had it around four years back. But because I had no plans of directing then or right now, I haven’t started work on it.” What keeps him away from direction? “I am only concentrating on acting in some good, meaningful films now,” he says. “But when I do decide to direct my next, this will definitely be it,” he adds.
NO SMJ IN 2015
2014 had two seasons of Satyamev Jayate. 2015 will have none. “We are not having SMJ this year,” he confirms, reasoning, “The entire team needs a break now. What we have unearthed in these few years has drained us inside out. We need that time to reinforce and reinstill that energy in us. It’s definitely not the last season, though.”
WRESTLER? MAYBE!
So, has he signed Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal or not? “No. These are just speculations. I have not signed any film yet.” Instead, Aamir does let on, “I am busy reading a few scripts that were offered to me. I will select a film and announce it soon. As of now, there’s nothing”.
However, a source close to the actor confirmed that he is indeed prepping to play a wrestler in Tiwari’s film, saying, “He has liked the script and has already started bulking up to look like a wrestler. He is trying to get a totally beefed up look for Dangal.” The source also adds that the actor has a special trainer who’s helping him achieve the look.
