Would Rajinikanth have made a better Assault Sethu than Bobby Simha in Jigarthanda?

The Lingaa actor loved Karthik Subbaraj’s gangster flick and supposedly wished to have played baddie in the film

The countdown for Rajinikanth’s Lingaa release is reaching it’s final stages. With just four days for Thalaivar’s birthday and film’s release, K-town’s Quentin Tarantino, Karthik Subbaraj shared his experience about meeting Rajini on the sets of Lingaa. The talented filmmaker revealed that Rajini had loved his latest flick Jigarthanda starring Siddharth, Bobby Simha and Lakshmi Menon.

Karthik posted on Facebook, “As the Linga Week starts,I wanted to share the most precious moment of my life….Met him during Lingaa shoot at Shimoga,Thalaivar said he loved Jigarthanda and appreciated the whole cast and crew’s effort and said the best ever compliment i could get, ‘I would have loved to do Sethu’!!!!! and said he remembered his performance as ‘Parattai’ while watching Sim HA’s performance…..He also shared lots of his experience during ‘Mullum malarum’, ‘thalapathy’ ‘Baasha’…… Wow,..ur great Thalaiva!!! Ithu pothum thalaiva!!!! Waiting for 12th!!! Thanks to Karna Karan and K.S ravikumar sir for making this happen!!! The precious 2 hours of my life!!!”

While Bobby Simha had owned the role of Assault Sethu, getting into the skin of his character, we wonder how things would have turned if Rajini had played the baddie in Jigarthanda. Playing a villain is not something new to the superstar. Infact, he started his acting career by doing a lot of negative characters. His performance as Parattai in Kamal Haasan-Sridevi’s 16 Vayathinile is one of the iconic villainous act in the history of Tamil cinema. Only recently, Thalaivar had shown his evil side on-screen when he played the bad robot in Shankar’s Enthiran. With Rajini’s unmatched style, he would have killed the role of Assault Sethu with panache. Looks like Bobby Simha’s act in Jigarthanda has reminded the superstar of his olden days where he used to be a villain and not a superstar.
