Why Were These Celebs Missing in Action This Year? 5 Out of Luck Stars of 2014

While many B-Town stars were all over the place this year and some even had multiple releases, irrespective of the films being good, bad or ugly, some popular ones chose to take a backseat and let others have all the fun.

A lowdown on 5 actors who went missing in 2014.

Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir

If there’s any actor who’s giving the Khans sleepless nights, it’s Ranbir Kapoor. Last year, RK Junior delivered one 100 crore hit – Ayan Mukherji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and one dud – Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharam. But a minor flop definitely can’t keep him down for long. With the failure of the film behind him, RK is all set to compensate for the loss and take the Bollywood box-office by storm in 2015 with four releases. They all are as different as chalk and cheese. Take a peek: Bombay Velvet, Roy, Jagga Jasoos and Tamaasha.

John Abraham

John Abraham

Having worked on four films last year (Race 2, I, Me Aur Main, Shootout At Wadala and Madras CafĂ©) all that John Abraham needed was a ‘break’ and 2014 had certainly been a big break for B-town’s favourite sex symbol. But mind you, next year, John will spring a surprise for his fans with two biggies – Welcome Back and Rocky Handsome and probably Rohit Dhawan’s next too. Ahoy, Johnny boy!

Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar

Like Aamir Khan, it’s certainly not easy to convince the super-selective Farhan Akhtar to do a film. And the actor-producer-director-singer-and-whatnot particularly prefers to do less but quality work, especially after delivering the runaway hit Bhaag Milkha Bhaag last year. Though Shaadi Ke Side Effects released beginning this year didn’t help him much expect Farhan to impress his fans and critics alike with his sister Zoya Akhtar’s Wes Anderson-esque take on dysfunctional modern family – Dil Dhadakne Do and the thriller Wazir with none other than Amitabh Bachchan.

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan

Looks like marriage has proved to be a major hindrance in Vidya Balan’s professional career. Else, what explains the three colossal flops – Ghanchakkar, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Bobby Jasoos back to back? But considering the powerhouse of talent that Vidya is, she may be down – but not out. Next year, watch out for Mohit Suri’s Humari Adhuri Kahaani alongside Emraan Hashmi. Will they recreate The Dirty Picture magic?

Imran Khan

Imran Khan

The youngest Khan on the block is in some real trouble. Last year, three of his big banner films, Vishal Bhardwaj’s experimental Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Ekta Kapoor’s Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara and Karan Johar’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein tanked. Reportedly, IK is doing Nikhil Advani’s next and if the movie’s tentative title is to be believed (Saali Kutiya), looks like he might come back in a big way.
