Tevar might go tax-free in Uttar Pradesh

Looks like Boney Kapoor is a hands-on producer and is taking every effort possible to make sure that Tevar, his upcoming film starring son Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Manoj Bajpayee turns out a winner.

Tevar, undoubtedly, is an ambitious film made under the banner of Sanjay Kapoor Entertainment and Eros International and presented by Boney Kapoor. It is slated for grand opening on January 9 next year. As the subject of the film was based on the backdrop of Mathura and Uttar Pradesh, Boney decided to shot it at location. With that he not only succeeded in giving a realistic touch to the film, but also managed to get benefit of getting tax-free status for the film in the state. That’s because the state policy is to award tax-free status to any film that is largely shot in Uttar Pradesh.

Considering that Tevar has such an advantage to its side well before its due in cinema halls. This will surely going to help the film do better business, at least in UP. Filmmakers who often look for an opportunity to reduce making cost and for newer locations can keep this in mind and think of tapping possibilities of shooting their film in UP.

“Eighty percent of the film has been shot in Agra and Mathura. That’s definitely an added thing,” beams producer Sanjay Kapoor. “When we decided to shoot the film there, we never thought of shooting it because of that reason. Agra and Mathura are two beautiful places of the country and though films have been shot there but I don’t think anybody captured Agra and Mathura the way we did. The locations are not just for the sake of it, it’s part of the story and script.”

Though Tevar has got a pan-India appeal and with the film soon to be declared tax-free in UP, all eyes are now on whether the audience gives this a hit – or a miss.
